We are currently hiring for the position of:
PRODUCER, SPEAKERS SUMMIT AND BUSINESS READINESS - MARKET
The Producer of Speakers Summit and Business Readiness, Market, contributes to the planning and delivery of on-stage talks and presentations with a wide range of creators and decision-makers working in film, series and innovation, year-round and at the Market Summit.
Reporting to the Director of Market Programming and managing a team, this position will meet the creative, professional and reputational standards and goals of the Market. The producer will research thought leadership and business insights, shape conversations and produce events that inspire emerging and mid-career creators and professionals.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Oversees programme ideation and scheduling under the guidance of the Director - Market Programming and Creator Development
• Researches trends and drives innovation that reflects industry and creator developments, as well as liaises with stakeholders to listen to pitches, identify and track notable speakers and session ideas
• Collaborates with the Director - Market Programming and Creator Development to prioritize sessions and guests, and sends soft invitations
• Produces monthly Business Readiness programming at the TIFF Lightbox
• Manages the production logistics and management of departmental and interdepartmental processes, including workflow, task assignments, and workback schedules for Speakers Summit and year-round talks
• Leads and mentors the team members through training sessions on interdepartmental, administrative, and production
• Works closely with the Director - Market Programming and Creator Development and the Sales and Partnership teams to deliver on speaking and/or co-programming opportunities and acknowledgements
• Drafts and ensures accuracy to all communications, including session notes, press releases, marketing strategies and announceable key dates
• Builds expense budgets for the Summit and year-round talks
• Tracks participant and speaker fees, fellowships, hospitality, as well as programme expenses
• Oversees event and technical production at the Summit venue and manages and trains a team who run daily events
• Writing a detailed post-mortem with recommendations on improving processes, as well as an updated critical path, to be delivered before the end of the contract
• Other tasks as assigned
TARGET CONTRACT DATES:
• Immediate or upon availability
WORK LOCATION:
• Office Location: 350 King Street West, Toronto, ON M5V 3X5
• Weekly in-office requirements:
• Minimum 2 days (1st November – 30th April)
• Minimum 3 days (1st May – 31st October)
• Festival Office Requirements: Full Time during Festival
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in the Canadian or international film industries
• Experience managing the planning, scheduling and execution of high-level screen industry events
• Experience working with a film festival, preferably in a programming administration or production capacity
• Experience communicating with industry professionals and film creators
• Exceptionally strong administrative and organizational skills
• Technical aptitude; learning and using programmes such as Artifax, Trello
• Able to handle difficult situations and people with aplomb and grace
• Excellent communication skills and research abilities
• Scheduling of multiple initiatives, understanding of priorities and distribution of resources as needed.
• Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset but not a requirement
Nice to Haves:
• Knowledge of other languages is an asset
• PMP certification is an asset
• Experience managing teams for the delivery of multiple-day events
