TIFF, a vibrant not-for-profit arts organization, is hiring for the contract position of: Library Clerk
The Film Reference Library is the ultimate resource for film lovers, filmmakers, students, researchers, screenwriters, and film and television professionals. The Library promotes Canadian and global film scholarship by collecting, preserving, and providing access to a comprehensive collection of film, and film-related reference materials.
We are hiring a part-time Library Clerk to assist library staff with patron services and maintenance of the collection. The Library Clerk reports to the Librarian.
Responsibilities
• Shall include but not be limited to...
• Greets library patrons and is part of the front-line of reference services
• Provides basic reference services for external and internal patrons
• Retrieves and shelves library materials.
• Tracks daily statistics on technical and user services.
• Assists with maintenance of the collection through shelf-reading, and processing selected incoming materials.
• Updates records in library database, and creates spreadsheets to assist with collection maintenance.
Minimum Requirements
• Customer service experience.
• Previous experience working in a library as a page or clerk preferred.
• Strong interest in cinema.
• Library technician diploma preferred, or equivalent training or experience an asset.
• Technologically proficient; skilled in data entry. Database experience an asset.
• Exemplary telephone and inter-personal communications skills.
• Must be able to work weekends and flexible shifts
• Candidate must be available for weekly shifts on Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday, from 12-5pm.
Contract Dates
• November – December 31, 2017; Possibility of extension to January-June, 2018.
