We are currently hiring for the position of:
PRODUCER, INNOVATION INITIATIVES - MARKET
The Producer of Innovation Initiatives will lead the planning and production of innovation-focused programming and initiatives at the Market. This includes, but not limited to, delivering on the vision and the securement of projects for the Market’s Innovation Hub, the curation and production of XR and AI related talks at the Speakers Summit, as well as the selection of XR projects as part of the Project Market and IP Showcase.
This is an operationally focused position managing all aspects of the programmes, from planning, selection, administration to delivery. Reporting to the Director of Market Programming and Creator Development this position will meet the creative, professional and reputational standards and goals of the Market.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Contributes to the Market Programming strategy by planning and delivering innovation-focused initiatives, including the selection of projects, creators, speakers, decision-makers and companies
• Oversees programme ideation and scheduling under the guidance of Director of Market Programming and Creator Development
• Liaises with stakeholders to listen to pitches, identify and track notable speakers and session ideas
• Researches trends and drives innovation that reflects industry and creator developments with a particular focus on the innovation sector
• Conducts ongoing participant and guest outreach for possible participation in Market programming
• Works with industry experts to shortlist and curate Canadian and International projects for the Innovation Hub, and sets evaluation standards and processes for internal and external juries
• Makes recommendations for speakers, companies and decision makers to spotlight at the Summit and the IP Exchange
• Moderates on-stage talks with guests and participants when required
• Liaises with and hosts stakeholders on-site
• Builds expense budgets for all innovation initiatives and tracks expenses, including participant and speaker fees, hospitality, and other programme expenses
• Collaborates with internal and external technical teams to ensure the best standards for presentation
• Oversees departmental and interdepartmental processes, including workflow and task assignments, R-Matrices for Labs and speaker sessions
• Ensures accuracy with scheduling and logistics event builds for the team using Artifax, Trello, ROS, venues and room bookings, and tech requests
• Liaises with and hosts stakeholders on-site
• Maintains professional relationships with mentors, creative consultants and guests who meet the criteria of programmes and the needs of selected participants
• Prepares industry-related Communications, including press releases, event descriptions, stage remarks, web and newsletter copy, and ensures they are ready for editorial sign-off and distribution
• Compiles data for reports and presentations that will be shared with interdepartmental teams and external stakeholders
• Updates post-programme surveys to gauge impact for programme improvement purposes and makes necessary recommendations
• Facilitates regular check-ins with stakeholders to ensure programmes are meeting benchmarks
• Other tasks as assigned
SALARY:
• $60,000 - $80,000/annually
TARGET CONTRACT DATES:
• Immediate or upon availability
WORK LOCATION:
• Office Location: 350 King Street West, Toronto, ON M5V 3X5
• Weekly in-office requirements:
• Minimum 2 days (1st November – 30th April)
• Minimum 3 days (1st May – 31st October)
• Festival Office Requirements: Full Time during Festival
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in the Canadian or international film industries
• Experience managing the planning, scheduling and execution of high-level screen industry events
• Experience working with a film festival, preferably in a programming administration or production capacity
• Experience communicating with industry professionals and film creators
• Exceptionally strong administrative and organizational skills
• Technical aptitude; learning and using programmes such as Artifax, Trello
• Able to handle difficult situations and people with aplomb and grace
• Excellent communication skills and research abilities
• Scheduling of multiple initiatives, understanding of priorities and distribution of resources as needed.
• Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset but not a requirement
Nice to Haves:
• Knowledge of other languages is an asset
• PMP certification is an asset
• Experience managing teams for the delivery of multiple-day events
