This is a Full Time Job
We are currently hiring for the position of:
HUMAN RESOURCES, GENERALIST
Support the daily functioning of the People & Culture department and responsible for a select portfolio of HR programs and projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
EMPLOYEE RELATIONS (40%)
• Provide HR support, service, and expertise in all areas of HR including but not limited to:
• Responding to HR inquiries from all levels of staff up to and including Directors
• General guide on HR policies, processes and programs and employee relations issues
• Conducting regular check-ins with department leaders to understand their business needs, share information and provide advice
• Supporting employees and people managers with performance management
• Keeping abreast of employee engagement levels and climate
• Representing the perspective and needs of assigned departments when collaborating with full HR team on operational planning
• Communicating and working closely with the HR team to ensure consistent messaging
• Assist with the rolling out of HR related projects, when assigned
GENERAL HR (60%)
• Contributes to the development and implementation of HR policies, programs and processes that support “One TIFF”
• Supports the performance management process including coordinating the performance management calendar, performance assessments, and training for designated groups
• HR operating processes – including ensuring that the HR standard operating manual is continuously up to date and the HR team is trained on changes in a timely manner
• Recruitment & Selection - supports with the full recruitment cycle including job postings, screening resumes, completing phone screening, scheduling and preparing for interviews, and assessments
• Training & Development - assists with coordinating learning events and facilitating programs as needed.
• Accessibility/Accommodation – including reviewing accessibility policies and multi-year plan, ensuring the accessible employment standard is met, and filing compliance reports
• Disability management – coordinates disability management process and liaises with employee, employee’s manager, Payroll & Benefits Manager, Director, People & Culture and Sunlife/WSIB
• Investigations – working closely with the Director, People & Culture, investigates and resolves employee complaints and reports made via ClearView
• Engages in continuous improvement/projects to optimize work processes and programs
• Provide operational and project support to department management as required
• Support the delivery of departmental Festival goals, including being responsible leading for:
• Festival staff passes and programme book staff list
• Festival offboarding, including performance reviews and exit survey
• Member of Festival Production Committee
• Keep abreast of HR best practices and legislative requirements
JOB GRADE & SALARY:
• Job Grade 2
• 50,000-68,000/ Annually
TARGET START DATE:
• January 9, 2024
WORK LOCATION:
• Office Location: 350 King Street West, Toronto, ON M5V 3X5
• Weekly in office requirements:
• Minimum 2 days (November to May)
• Minimum 3 days (June to October)
• Festival Office Requirements: Full Time during Festival
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
• Two to three years’ experience in human resources
• Certified Human Resources Professional/Leader (CHRP/CHRL) or working towards certification
• Demonstrated knowledge of complex employee relations matters
• Familiarity with organizational DEI initiatives
• Highly organized with strong project planning skills, the ability to work under strict deadlines as well as managing multiple priorities independently is required
• Client service focus to act as a subject matter expert and providing valuable insight to all stakeholders
• Knowledge of current employment legislation, collective agreement administration, and relevant HR policies and procedures
• Experience with ADP Workforce Now or equivalent Human Resources Information System legislation an asset
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence and customer focus, to serve all levels of staff and provide an excellent employee experience
• Judgment, tact and diplomacy is required to identify and address/escalate sensitive/difficult situations
• High degree of cultural competency
• Solid knowledge of HR best practices and provincial legislation in order to provide sound HR support.
• Project management skills to deliver on individual projects
• Able to work well independently and in a team environment
• Ability to stay organized (and keep others organized) and meet deadlines in a face-paced environment with competing priorities
• Strong computer (MS Office, Google Suite, HRIS) and administrative skills
• Attention to detail to deliver on day to day and project work
• Ability to handle confidential information in a discreet manner.
