We are currently hiring for the position of:
DIRECTOR DIGITAL - TIFF : THE MARKET
The Director, Market Digital is a senior-level role responsible for day to day and long term management of the overall digital strategy, inclusive of platforms, systems, and software needed to achieve the Markets operational, programming, and sales goals. .
The incumbent will oversee the Market’s digital infrastructure to optimize the professional attendee’s experience leading up to and during the Market, as well as support the development, outsourcing, and high level maintenance of tools that support programming and revenue generation.
The TIFF Market is expanding beyond traditional Film and TV to include all screen formats, such as augmented reality, AI-generated content, and more. This role will play a key part in the development and implementation of digital infrastructure that will allow screen professionals to continue business year round. The digital resources, networking tools, and success reporting mechanisms will support ongoing business engagement.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Digital Strategy and Implementation
• Work closely with the VP - Digital Transformation and oversee the work delivered by the Digital Consultancies to successfully lead the execution of the digital strategy for the Market.
• Oversee all Market-related digital platforms, software systems, and digital management tools, ensuring seamless functionality and user experience - both internally and audiences/ attendees.
• Collaborating closely with external consultancies on the Digital and Technological front to support and inform the Digital strategy for the Market.
• Act as a key advisor to VP - Digital Transformation/ Market Executive Leadership providing actionable insights on digital trends and opportunities.
• Execute and enhance digital transformation initiatives, integrating new tools and technologies to improve efficiency and user engagement.
• The Digital lead should work closely with the Executive Leadership Market to make sure digital experiences complement the in-person event, and to integrate digital elements smoothly into the event planning process.
Platform and System Management
• Oversee the Market’s digital systems, including software platforms, technology and management systems, and data analytics tools, ensuring optimal performance and scalability.
• Support and manage the integration of new technologies, including automation, data analytics, and AI tools, to improve digital operations and audience engagement.
• Collaborate with broader Tech, Information and Systems team and external vendors to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, ensuring minimal disruptions to digital workflows.
Analytics, Reporting, and Research
• Supervise all digital analytics and reporting efforts, including weekly performance tracking, and post-event evaluations to measure effectiveness and ROI.
• Develop benchmarks and KPIs for digital success, implementing improvements based on data insights and audience feedback.
• Conduct market research to stay abreast of industry trends, competitor activities, and emerging digital opportunities.
• Support and manage enforcement of organization’s information governance policies and comply with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
• Implement key performance indicators (KPIs) to track digital success, engagement, and conversion metrics .
Digital Innovation
• Identify and propose new digital properties, activations, and campaigns to maximize ROI and audience engagement.
• Includes but not limited to all digital tools, resources, software, platforms, and digital business intelligence that will be needed for the dedicated Content Market eg: market app, digital catch up screening solution, networking tool, E-passes.
• Stay updated on digital transformation trends, proposing innovative solutions to elevate the Market’s digital presence and enhance user experiences.
• Measure and report results of the digital investments through tools, vendors, systems and ensuring it aligns with Market’s goals and commitments.
Team Leadership & Collaboration
• Ensuring a smooth transition of deliverables during the early development phase to internal teams and identified vendors.
• Lead a digital team, fostering innovation and collaboration.
• Build relationships with external partners, vendors, and digital agencies to enhance capabilities.
• Collaborate with IT and technology teams to ensure robust digital infrastructure and security.
• Implement best practices for data privacy, cybersecurity, and compliance.
• Lead CRM and automation strategies to enhance audience relationships and retention.
JOB GRADE & SALARY:
• Job Grade Salary Range/Annually or Rate of pay : $90k - $127k
TARGET CONTRACT DATES:
• 20-October-2025
WORK LOCATION:
• Office Location: 350 King Street West, Toronto, ON M5V 3X5
• Weekly in-office requirements:
• Minimum 2 days (1st November – 30th April)
• Minimum 3 days (1st May – 31st October)
• Festival Office Requirements: Full Time during Festival
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor’s degree in Digital Media, Computer Science, Marketing, or a related field.
• 7-10 years of experience in digital strategy, or related roles, preferably within the arts, entertainment, or media industries.
• Proven expertise in managing large-scale digital campaigns, platforms, and system integrations
• Strong command of CRM systems, automation tools and analytics tools.
• High level of concentration required to oversee diverse digital operations, from strategic planning to real-time execution.
• Analytical and problem-solving abilities to optimize digital tools and manage multiple simultaneous priorities.
