We are currently hiring for the position of:
AREA SUPERVISOR, FESTIVAL STREET
The Area Supervisors for Festival Street are the main operational and logistical leader for a pre-specified area on Festival Street. Within this space they will be responsible for setup/strike, operations, activations, red carpet operations and any traffic/pedestrian management and will keep the Logistics Hub apprised of any support/supply needs, escalations and other happenings within their area.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Attend production meetings, training and orientation sessions prior to onsite work as assigned
• Supervise programming and sponsor activations during setup, hours of operation and strike in assigned zone
• Supervise production assistants in assigned zone and assist Festival Logistics team as related to volunteers
• Monitor, respond and escalate safety, security and medical emergencies within assigned zone according to the escalation protocols
• Liaise with Security, Festival Services, Sponsorship, Programming, Marketing, Technical Production Teams and City of Toronto representatives as needed
• Assist with load-in, load-outs, deliveries
• Assist with all vehicle traffic e.g. talent, official, delivery, emergency vehicles
• Assist with set-up and strike of street closure
• Execute logistical support plans for assigned projects and complete all tasks as per given specifications
• Deliver detailed post mortem notes and post-festival reporting on or before September 24th, 2023.
RATE OF PAY:
• $24.00 /Hourly
TARGET CONTRACT DATES:
• August 1, 2023-September 22, 2023
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
• Experience supervising indoor and outdoor event setups and operations
• Previous festival, theater, or large event production experience is an asset
• Experience managing staff and/or a physical space during a large event or festival
• Experience creating and coordinating production schedules
• Job will require some heavy lifting, comfortable lifting up to 50 lb
• Ability to manage operations, setup/strike and oversight of a specified area on Festival Street.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills and excellent customer service
• Must be prepared for manual labour and to travel from venue to venue in rain or shine.
• Required to handle assets and supplies in an ethical and confidential manner.
• Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
• Ability to manage a team of production assistants in order to maintain setups and operations of a designated area
• Desire and ability to take initiative and coordinate projects
• Able to focus and handle changing information under pressure, and in a demanding environment in a calm, alert, and professional manner
• Willing to adjust work schedule as required to meet established deadlines including evenings and weekends
