THE JOB
We are looking for a Director, Music Analytics & Insights who is passionate about discovering trends and insights hidden in large data sets that are meaningful and actionable, while at the same time driving forward across analytical collaboration both internally and externally. You will also be responsible for clearly defining the data and reporting requirements for our key clients and working with teams across the company to ensure those are delivered. You will be working on some of the most interesting and challenging problems in live music and you will have the opportunity to take our data-driven insights, convert them to recommendations and communicate those recommendations directly to our clients.
In this collaborative role, you will query/pull data from multiple data sources, QA data, research and implement innovative ways to look at data, perform a wide range of formal and ad hoc analyses. You will identify opportunities for improvements to product features and drive overall engagement by innovating new ways to look at data and providing analysis and insights. You will partner with leaders across multiple functions including Business Intelligence, Sales, Marketing, Strategy, Product & Finance to provide analyses covering product usage, cross-channel engagement, site analytics, incremental revenue streams, client analysis, and customer lifetime value.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead and manage a team of approximately 2-3 data analysts responsible for ad hoc reporting, creating standard dashboards, and in-depth analysis.
• Analyze large data sets to measure performance and provide actionable insights to drive revenue and improve product features.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand objectives, gather requirements, and define performance metrics.
• Compile, consolidate, and validate data from multiple sources into digestible formats.
• Query databases, create data sets (SQL), and build dynamic dashboards for key KPIs, consumer/campaign insights, and empower channel leads to discover actionable insights.
• Conduct exploratory data analyses to solve business questions and identify optimization and automation opportunities.
• Mentor and educate the Music analyst group, streamlining client analysis and deliverables.
• Collaborate with departments including Artist & Promoter Relations, Pricing & Yield Management, Demand Commercialization, product marketing, product development, and other Data & Analytics teams.
• Mine and analyze data to drive optimization of product development, marketing techniques, and business strategies.
• Serve as a resident expert in statistical analysis, including model development, validation, and maintenance.
• Ensure data integrity through data cleansing and normalization tasks.
• Conduct ad-hoc analysis and present results to internal and external stakeholders.
• Maintain online dashboard summaries of data and campaign performance.
• Perform post-campaign analysis, providing recommendations for improvement.
• Build presentations and reports to summarize results.
• Present insights and recommendations to clients.
• Evangelize data-driven decision-making and foster a culture of inquisitiveness.
Technical Skills/Competencies:
• Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Math, Information Technology, Economics, or related fields.
• 7+ years of relevant experience in analytics or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience using statistical and computer languages (R, Python, SQL, Java, AWS, etc.).
• Experience with relational databases (traditional and cloud-based).
• Proficiency in SQL and statistical packages (e.g., SPSS Modeler, SAS) is a plus.
• Ability to communicate complex analytics results to non-technical audiences.
• Experience with data management and visualization tools (Tableau, Domo, Looker, QuickSight, Databricks, etc.).
• Extensive experience with Excel functions and formulas.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Strategic thinker with the ability to manage and grow a team independently.
• Understanding of the company's mission and vision, aligning work to achieve broader goals.
