DESCRIPTION:
Timeline: Begins ASAP, completion mid November
Location: Hybrid in Oakland / Bay Area preferred, open to remote.
ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking an experienced VFX Supervisor to lead our team to completion.
You must have:
• Worked on 2+ feature films or TV episodes with 75+ VFX shots with budgets of $500k-$3M, and held the same job title as in the posting
• Worked on a small, scrappy indie team where people are wearing multiple hats
The ideal candidate will have a strong artistic vision, technical expertise, and the ability to manage a team effectively. You will be responsible for overseeing the entire VFX process from concept to final delivery, ensuring that all visual effects meet the highest standards of quality and align with the creative vision of the project.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Artist & Creative Management
• Hire and onboard artists and team members to the project, appropriately scoping and budgeting their work
• Manage artists and interface with Director for on-time and quality shot creation
• Ensure satisfaction of artists and production team and production of quality work on budget and on time
• Provide creative direction to keep shots looking good and on time
• Responsible for QCing shots before they reach Director, and pushing shots forward
Project Oversight
• Break down project into clear shot and asset lists with dependencies marked, timelines, and resource needs
• From the above, build a budget and full schedule that takes all moving pieces of shots into account and is consistently updated
• Keep team on budget and on time, solving blockers
• Collaborate with sound, color, and editorial teams (delivery to sound, matching picture lock, working with AE)
Technical Management
• Prepare project files for artists
• Choose the best path forward for asset and shot completion: continuing off past work or recreating from scratch
• Ensure a clean file system, and enforce naming conventions. Be sure all project files and deliveries are put in company folders.
