We are looking to bring on a Producer who will be a partner through the rest of the lifecycle of the film.
Position: Post Producer / VFX Producer
Credit: Producer
Location: Los Angeles, CA
Duration: Starts ASAP, through the life cycle of the film
Rate: DOE, with initial payment schedule and successive payments after fundraise. Includes points.
The Role:
Responsibilities include:
Hiring key roles: Post-Production Supervisor, Intern or Assistant, VFX House, Sound Mixer, and a production crew for several small iPhone-quality shoots. These roles may be directly responsible for the below items under the Producer's supervision.
Creating a budget for the rest of the film's lifecycle, and ensuring the team adheres to the budget.
Supporting the edit of the film: creating a schedule and supporting the team to stick to the schedule, advising on story.
Overseeing additional shooting
Overseeing timely VFX creation, with an emphasis on creating cohesion of style across the film, and quality first drafts of each shot which are consistent with the story world of the film
Fundraising, or fundraising support. It is not necessary that the Producer be able to fundraise independently, but it is a major value-add. Other forms of support include: running fundraising events, organizing screenings, finding fiscal sponsorship, finding grant opportunities and submitting to them, preparing materials for investors, and presence in fundraising meetings.
Take full ownership over adherence to budget and timeline for the project
Qualifications:
Extensive experience in post producing, including at least one feature film
Impeccable follow-through on tasks, timelines, and communication
Thorough understanding of post-production: workflows, managing communication and timelines with vendors
Ability to support, or hire a team to support, storytelling and visual design with the creation of VFX and screens
Thorough understanding of the Post-Production process
Thorough understanding of film distribution: festivals, sales, etc.
Excellent organizational skills and management skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills
Strong problem-solving skills
Infectious enthusiasm for getting projects done at top quality
What we have already:
An earlier picture locked episodic cut. We are finalizing the VFX and working with two post houses to complete the finishing touches. Sound mixes and VFX should be done within 1mo, and then we'll go to conform.
A rough cut of the feature version. Two sections in the film have 10-15 minutes of temped screen animations. We expect to ''soft picture lock'' and be ready for animation design by mid-end September. (Much of the VFX, color, and sound from the episodes will apply to the feature cut.)
Next steps and timeline:
Submit rough cut of film to Sundance & SXSW
Potentially host fundraising events and test screenings
Soft picture lock feature. Hire screen team and begin creation of screens and animations, opening credits animation sequence, and VFX.
Shoot iPhone-quality video and record ADR with actors.
Picture lock.
Finish remaining VFX and animations in full quality.
Sound mix (5.1 and stereo), color grade (applying the old color grade to the new film).
Export 4k deliverables and DCP
Host a red carpet screening & party in Los Angeles and San Francisco for investors and supporters of the film
Hire a marketing team to produce several videos about the unique nature of the project. Begin discussing project on panels, podcasts, YouTube, etc. Specifics for conversation.
Submit to festivals
Sell film to streamers
Optionally, produce and sell graphic novel of the story
Time is of the essence. We are aiming to get this done in time to hit major festival deadlines, and at least by the end of 2022.
