NJ SPOTLIGHT NEWS, headquartered at the Agnes Varis NJ PBS Studio in Newark and New Jersey City University, strives to engage the community and increase public awareness of critical local issues.
NJ SPOTLIGHT NEWS seeks Associate Producer to pitch, develop, produce, package and publish Jersey-centric news and public affairs coverage. Platforms include flagship live broadcast NJ SPOTLIGHT NEWS with Briana Vannozzi, NJ Spotlight New's' digital assets and daily newsletters, and social networks.
Specific responsibilities include:
> Works as part of the Editorial team team to pitch, research, develop, fact check and gather supporting elements for news stories
> Coordinates logistical activities (scheduling, booking guests, locations, releases, etc.) of reporting team
> Reviews raw footage as appropriate in preparation for editing process
> Assist with graphics, gathers archival footage and interactive materials for both television and digital use
> Additional duties, as assigned
Option for hybrid work, with some days in the office required.

Qualifications include:
> A minimum of 3 years news gathering experience, candidates with newsroom environment are preferred;
> Excellent copy editing and news story/headline writing skills
> Superior organizational, interpersonal and project management skills
> Familiarity with AP style
The successful candidate has an interest in news and familiarity with New Jersey issues.
