Senior Publicist (Writer) - Union
Job Summary:
Walt Disney Studios Motion Picture Marketing is a dynamic, results-driven marketing team responsible for positioning films and streaming content released by Disney (live action), Walt Disney Animation Studios, Pixar Animation Studios, Marvel Studios, Lucasfilm, and 20th Century Studios. This organization oversees the Studios' global marketing strategy encompassing creative, media, digital, international, promotions, publicity, research, special events, and synergy, and handles some the most valuable film brands and franchises of all time. Thanks in large part to the efforts of the marketing team, the Walt Disney Studios has set numerous records at the box office, including being the first and only studio to surpass $3 billion domestically and $7 billion globally in a calendar year.
This position oversees all written materials for campaigns for theatrical and streaming content. Responsibilities include developing and implementing written materials from started production all the way through release. Writer. Will collaborate with film makers, legal, as well as internal stakeholders across the marketing organization. The role requires strong technical writing skills, organizational skills, communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
This is an IATSE Local 600 Publicist Guild position covered by a collective bargaining agreement.

Responsibilities:
• Draft and support other writers to draft/edit:
• Start of production release.
• film synopsis/Project Profile,
• Character Descriptions,
• Talking points (for series, talking points are updated weekly),
• Blasts
• Advance
• Talent and filmmaker Q&As
• Bios for talent and filmmakers – chasing and editing
• Fun Facts
• Production Notes or Production Brief
• Tip sheets
• Photo captions
• Interviews for production notes and/or Q&As (some titles require 2-8; others 20-30 interviews)
• Metadata for Disney+ projects
• Generic questions for junket talent and press conferences (40-90 questions pending project)
• Trivia
• Hometown heroes – creating questionnaires
• Awards synopses and other specialized needs for awards season
• Generic features/ research and/or legacy written features
• Review/edit pieces drafted for internal or promo-based publications (Visa, D23, Newsreel, etc.)
• Marketing department materials, including exhibitor slide review/edit, iHeart Radio messaging, airline publication guidelines, promo press releases
• Proofing invites (LLD, PGA), mailers, and other campaign-specific materials
Minimum Qualifications:
• 5+ years of experience in writing.
• Publicity and/or entertainment experience
• Demonstrate excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Proficient in Google Suite, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Keynote
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information.
• Ability to exercise good judgment and use discretion.
• A self-starter: able to take initiative and proactively problem solve.
• Ability to work with limited supervision.
• Strong organizational, team building and relationship skills.
• Ability to prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Demonstrated flexibility and professionalism in an environment where change is constant.
• Detail oriented.

The pay rate for this position in California is $3266.20 per week based on a 56-hour work week.
