The Studio Research team at the Walt Disney Studios oversees global audience insights that impact the creative and strategic decisions of our marketing and production teams. We are looking for a Manager to join our Studio Research team. In partnership with the Director of Studio Research, this position will play an instrumental role in the day-to-day management of quantitative and qualitative research projects being conducted for all content made by The Walt Disney Studio, including movies released in theaters and series released on Disney+ and Hulu. Several of these research studies will be global and this role will have varying degrees of supervision, autonomy, and responsibility with them to become a trusted partner for our marketing and production stakeholders. Key strengths for this position come from experience with designing, managing, and communicating global research briefs and analysis.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee and make key contributions to research projects from inception to completion, including the development of appropriate methodologies, data analysis and report delivery. Specifically, manage research projects for both theatrical and streaming content campaigns, both domestic and international. This includes, but is not limited to, creative testing, screenings, positioning studies and exit surveys.
• Oversee the management and contribute to the analysis of syndicated title tracking for theatrical releases, both domestically and internationally.
• Working with Research Business Partners, ensure that the detailed findings and recommendations of every report are on target and provide strategic guidance to The Walt Disney Studios.
• Manage numerous ad-hoc, custom quantitative and qualitative research projects on an as needed basis.
• Attend focus groups and screenings, both domestically and internationally, and synthesize the findings into summary form.
• Help maintain the research department's repository, posting and updating data as necessary.
• Maintain department's resource planning initiative, ensuring each project is logged and each task within a project is accounted for.
• Build and maintain relationships with research counterparts from other divisions of The Walt Disney Company as well as external vendors.
• Respond to time sensitive data requests from internal clients.
Basic Qualifications
• 5+ years quantitative and qualitative market research experience.
• Must have extensive research background, either supplier-side, client-side, or some combination.
• Willingness to work non-traditional hours at times to cover screenings at night, early morning tracking memos, and other time sensitive projects.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Must be willing to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
• Solid project management skills and experience, including questionnaire design, data analysis and report writing, as well as presenting of findings.
• Must have exceptional multitasking capabilities and the ability to work quickly and effectively in an environment of tight deadlines and constant change.
• Flexible personality, team player, and a pro-active work ethic.
• Ability to think out-of-the-box in assisting with the development of methodological approaches.
• Computer literate with proficiencies in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint or similar applications.
Preferred Qualifications
• Theatrical and/or Streaming Market Research experience strongly preferred.
• International Market Research experience a plus.
Education:
• Bachelor's Degree in Market Research, Business, Marketing, Psychology, Statistics, Sociology or a related field.
The hiring range for this position in California is $113,800 to $152,500 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
