About the Role & Team
We are seeking a motivated, energetic, creative, detail-oriented editorial assistant who will support the Editorial Director of New IP Development, and a Senior Editor on the Disney Hyperion IP team! The Editorial Assistant will support the development of New and Disney Reimagined IP properties and Content Packaging initiatives, from picture books through young adult fiction. Must be passionate about children's books and Disney entertainment properties, have an awareness of current pop culture trends and media, have strong writing skills, and be able to efficiently manage diverse responsibilities and deadlines in a high-volume work environment.
In this role, you will report to the Executive Editor.
This role is located in New York, NY.
What You Will Do
• Liaise with various Departments including Design, Marketing, Publicity, Sales, and Content Packaging
• Prepare acquisition paperwork, including acquisitions memos and P&Ls; track paperwork for approved projects through the acquisitions process
• Set up acquired projects in title management system
• Draft fact sheets, catalog copy, bound galley copy, and jacket/cover copy
• Send stages of proofs to authors/illustrators for review
• Request ISBNs and maintain title system up-to-date
• Manage and process payments for titles; track payments and troubleshoot problems
• Order author/illustrator and agent complimentary copies of new releases
• Create and manage power point presentations as needed
• Participate in IP brainstorming meetings
• Assist in proposal development and book plotting
• On a case by case basis, meet and network with agents
Required Qualifications and Skills
• Proficiency in Office suite
• Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize in a high-volume environment
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal & written
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Ability to multi-task successfully
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
• Strong interest in and knowledge of YA and middle grade fiction
• The ability to brainstorm new ideas with a large team
Preferred Qualifications
• Design program knowledge
• Bachelor's Degree
Education
• High School Diploma or equivalent

The hiring range for this position in New York, NY is $40,400.00 to $55,400.00 per year based on a 40 hour work week. The amount of hours scheduled per week may vary based on business needs. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
