Job Summary:
We have a 12 month maternity cover opportunity for a Compliance Manager to join The Walt Disney Company.
As a key adviser to Disney Channels' Content and Programming Strategy team for EMEA, the Regional Compliance team advises on most aspects of Channels content, advertising and sponsorship, particularly in the UK, Central and Eastern Europe and Emerging Markets (including South Africa, Turkey and the Middle East), and the Nordic territories. The Compliance Manager delivers strong management of and guidance to its direct report, as well as being capable support to the Senior Manager of EMEA Compliance, in order to ensure successful Compliance delivery by the team. This role liaises regularly with Compliance colleagues in other European countries and the United States.
Responsibilities:
• As directed by the Senior Manager, manage and comply advertising and sponsorship for the UK, Nordics, South Africa, Turkey, Middle East and Greece.
• As directed by the Senior Manager, manage and comply original productions from concepts through to scripts, animatics, rough and final cuts.
• As directed by the Senior Manager, manage and comply owned media, competition spots and on air campaigns, as well as digital assets.
• Give sound verbal and written compliance guidance to other areas of the business in emails and meetings, including ad hoc advice, as required.
• Give confident compliance training and presentations to other lines of business, as and when required, adapting to their needs.
• Provide advice and training to teams in other EMEA countries if any of their broadcast licences move to regulations covered by the EMEA Compliance team.
• Assist SM in managing Co-ordinator, Intern and freelancers, and their duties, giving sound and confident advice and training and helping to allocate their work.
• Progress stakeholder relationships.
• As directed by the Senior Manager, manage and comply Compliance reports for delivered original and acquired programmes, helping to identify which need full review and which others do not.
• Ensure the 'disaster category lists' for programmes are kept up to date and shared with the US and EMEA territories.
• Ensure Programmers are advised of sensitive content if tragic news events occur.
• Keep abreast of changes/updates on regulation and ensure the EMEA compliance team are kept updated.
• Keep abreast of cultural sensitivities that come to light, and advise the Channels teams.
• Identify topics for discussion in monthly EMEA/International Compliance conference calls, and the monthly EMEA Marketing Compliance conference call.
• Share compliance information/issues/points of interest with other EMEA countries and vice versa.
• Give compliance advice on and implement any new systems, eg: Adstream, Mediator, ensuring smooth take up for the team.
• Identify opportunities to improve the delivery of compliance for the business.
Basic Qualifications:
• Sound background and track record of accuracy in broadcast regulatory compliance.
• Good working knowledge and practical application of Broadcasting Codes of the following regulatory bodies: Ofcom, Czech and RTUK (Turkish).
• Experience of compliance in children's broadcasting, including animation.
• Experience in being a confident, effective and sound upward compliance referral point for team members.
• Experience in complying and giving sound compliance guidance and advice to various lines of business, adapting according to their needs, on the following: programmes, advertising and sponsorship, on air promotions and competitions, PRMs, online environment.
• Experience in responding quickly and effectively, in diverse forums, meetings, emails, including ad hoc, as required, from a compliance perspective to different lines of business.
• Experience in giving presentations on compliance, adapting to the line of business needs.
• Experience in keeping abreast of any changes to the regulatory environment or Codes.
• Experience in responding and adapting to changes in business needs/direction.
