Video Director (V1) for Thorn Fall 25 Tour
Job Description:
The Thorn is a nationally touring theatrical production that blends multimedia, movement, and immersive visuals to bring the story of Jesus to life. We are hiring a Video Lead (V1) to support the setup, calibration, and maintenance of our touring video systems across multiple venues. This is a hands-on technical role, focused on setup and execution during load-in and load-out. The V1 is expected to work collaboratively with other departments and local crew to ensure projection, LED surfaces, and video signal cables are installed, aligned, and functioning properly for every performance. The Thorn tours with a 20'x50' wall made up of Thor 3.9mil LED panels. We are hiring for our Fall tour, which runs from September 2nd - November 16th.
Responsibilities:
-Set up and connect all video systems per touring specifications
-Align projection and/or LED surfaces according to venue layout and show needs
-Assist with testing and calibration of video gear
-Work with local labor during load-in and load-out for installation and teardown
-Troubleshoot technical issues such as signal routing, alignment errors, or hardware failure
-Collaborate with lighting, audio, and staging teams to ensure space and timing compatibility
-Maintain, inventory, and properly pack video equipment between stops
Qualifications:
-Experience with projection systems, LED panels, and signal flow hardware
-Familiarity with display calibration and system integration in live environments
-Comfortable working on fast-paced load-ins and adapting to different venues
-Ability to follow direction and work collaboratively with touring and local crew
-Strong attention to detail and consistency in execution
-Touring or live production experience preferred
Touring Conditions:
-Travel via coach bus with hotel accommodations provided
-Two cities per week, with 2-3 performances per location
-Touring rhythm requires full-week availability (not a standard 4/3 structure)
-Lodging, per diem, and travel fully covered
-Position is for the Fall tour, with potential extension into Spring
Salary/Benefits
$1,500.00
- 2,500.00
per week
Per diems are paid on days when meals are not provided. All travel and lodging is covered.

Show Overview:
The Thorn is a nationally touring live stage production often described as ''The Passion of Jesus meets Cirque.'' While that may sound ambitious-it is. And it works. The show has been incredibly well received by audiences across the country and regularly plays in top-tier performing arts centers and arenas.
Our touring company includes 52 cast and crew, traveling in three 53' semis and one charter bus, with hotel accommodations provided in each city. Unlike standard 4/3 concert gigs, The Thorn is a full-week touring experience, typically performing in two cities per week, with 2-3 shows per city. This schedule allows for more immersive setups and deeper engagement in each location.
