The Syndicate is growing its company with the addition of a full-time Director of Publicity. The position will represent our agency's clients in the entertainment and lifestyle brand spaces as well as directly manage the expanding PR department. The ideal candidate should have experience managing a team in addition to an excellent working knowledge of pop culture and the ability to effectively discuss current music, comedy and lifestyle trends. The candidate should be a strong communicator with superb writing skills. The position requires one to be meticulously confident while pitching to a variety of media outlets including web, print, television and social networks.
Responsibilities:
-Manage press campaigns and strategy with clients and talent
-Directly oversee daily management of PR department
-Pitch and secure interviews, special features and event listings in regional, national and major market outlets
-Write and deliver press releases with thorough follow-through to maximize coverage
-Provide ongoing updates and weekly press reports to clients detailing campaign status and achievements
-Maintain and foster relationships with national media outlets, editors and writers
-Work with other departments to cross-promote and market projects
-Pursue and manage future sales opportunities
Required traits and skills:
-The ability to stay organized and on task in a fast-paced environment
-Meticulously detail-oriented
-Experience managing a staff
-Must be able to handle multiple projects at once while prioritizing a heavy workload
-Available to travel for business meetings, conventions, festivals (locally and out of the country)
-A natural at customer service
-Self-driven yet works well with a team
-A minimum of 2 years' experience in national music, entertainment or lifestyle publicity
-Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, WordPress and various social media platforms
