We are currently seeking a Director or Vice President of Children's Television. We actively encourage individuals belonging to diverse groups (racial, sexual orientation, gender identity, physical ability, etc.) to apply. Candidate should have passion and enthusiasm for our company's body of work and/or comparable experience within children's television. The individual in this role will manage a robust slate of children's television projects in development and production. A positive, can-do attitude and a willingness to roll up your sleeves to do whatever is necessary to get new business and shepherd projects currently in process are critical success factors.
Responsibilities:
-Work closely with the President of Television to creatively strategize building new Jim Henson Company IP
-Generate new business by performing outreach, networking, and scheduling meetings with key players in in the industry
-Track network mandates, industry trends, and talent/IP to inform development strategy and planning
-Project manage internal parties as needed to support important network needs, pitches and other new business follow ups and initiatives
-Review incoming submissions and identify new projects and IP for development
-Build and maintain relationships with writers, directors, agents, managers, and talent in the children's entertainment arena
-Create development schedules and plans to track and maintain momentum for projects in development
-Oversee creation of development materials, review and provide input on all creative (pitch pages, decks, curriculum frameworks, sizzles, concept art and designs, animation tests) for projects to pitch and sell to networks and studios
-Oversee current productions for preschool and kids series. Review and provide notes on scripts, outlines, springboards, designs, animatics, cuts, voice records, and all other steps in the creative process
-Proactively keep President of Television updated on development slate, scheduled client meetings, and other key events happening with Kid's TV
-Liaison with Public Relations, Business Affairs, International Distribution, Consumer Products and Licensing, and the Creature Shop teams as needed during the development, pitching stages, and all aspects of the development and production process
-Attend industry events as set by the Company for the purpose of networking, setting pitch meetings, etc.
-Partner with other department members on working with our department interns as appropriate. (Interns are an important part of our business. They gain marketable skills in development by reading actual submissions that could become live projects for the company.)
Attend internal meetings and provide regular status updates
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
•Bachelor's Degree is preferred but not required
•Candidate should have a minimum of 5 years of experience working in Children's TV
•Proven track record of success with Development and bringing creative ideas to life from ideation through to green-lit.
•Fantastic presentation skills are a requirement. Must be comfortable speaking to Studio Execs and clients at various levels within an organization.
•Ability to create pitch decks and sales materials
•Excellent oral and written communications skills. Must be comfortable presenting in internal meetings.
•Strong business acumen, attention to detail and the ability to multi-task.
