Jim Henson Company is seeking a Director of Development, Feature Film who will be an exceptional addition to our Creative Affairs team. As Director of Development, Feature Film you will help manage the incoming submissions and help find new properties and IP for our growing slate focusing on premium-quality material in the family, fantasy/sci-fi and animation genres.

The right person for this role is a highly self-directed and enthusiastic problem solver, with an ability to inspire and effect change through influence and collaboration. If you are someone who has a strong interest in and understands the scripted development-to-feature film pipeline, is a true fan of all things Henson and has a unique sense of creativity, then this is a great role for you. Discretion, professionalism, and a willingness to learn are absolute musts for the position.
Responsibilities:
•Support our SVP, Feature Film Production on all aspects of creative development across family, fantasy/sci-fi and animation genres.
•Develop and acquire a deep understanding of Henson brand values, key demo targets, and business objectives to help determine which new material will help the brand and generate commercial value.
•Track studio mandates, industry trends, and talent/IP to inform development strategy accordingly.
•Generate new business by consistently reaching out to agencies, management companies and studios for new material that fit within the creative mandate of the company.
•Review incoming submissions to identify new projects and IP for development.
•Attend industry events as set by the company for the purpose of outreach, networking and setting pitch meetings.
•Build and maintain relationships with agencies, management companies and studios focusing on the feature film business.
•Attend internal meetings as required.
Skills & Qualifications
•Bachelor's Degree
•3+ years of feature film development experience at a studio, production, or agency.
•A real love and knowledge of film.
•Proven track record of success in finding new projects and developing them.
•Excellent creative writing abilities, including studio-level notes - writing samples a plus.
•Ability to handle highly sensitive information and maintain a high level of confidentiality.
•Exceptional oral and research skills, attention to detail and follow-through.
•Strong networking and relationships with agencies, management companies and studios.
•Ability to create pitch decks and sales materials.
•Profound commitment to identifying and elevating talent and stories from underrepresented groups.
