The Jim Henson Company is seeking a Business Development Assistant to work with both the President/COO of The Jim Henson Company and the Sr. Director of Business Development of Jim Henson's Creature Shop. This role supports the Company's operations, business development and sales functions. This position is based in-person, on the historic Charlie Chaplin lot in Hollywood, CA and at the Burbank Creature Shop.
What you will do:
• Primary responsibility is to support both the President/ COO of The Jim Henson Company and Senior Director of Business Development of Jim Henson's Creature Shop by:
o Performing work of a confidential nature and coordinating administrative support for the President/ COO and the Senior Director of Business Development, including scheduling meetings, calendar maintenance, filing, answering phones, preparing/reviewing expense reports for approval and making travel arrangements.
o Researching industry trades to discover advancing technologies, rising trends, and new business ventures for Jim Henson's Creature Shop to develop in.
o Working with the Senior Director and the Production Manager to construct comprehensive proposals, SOW, budgets, and build schedules for clients.
o Generating, submitting and tracking purchase orders and invoices for both third-party projects and internal projects across three departments.
o Assisting in the development and design of presentation and marketing materials including asset creation and management for Creature Shop social media.
o Performing other duties as assigned.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
• Bachelor's Degree with an emphasis on Entertainment and/ or Business is preferred.
• Interested in entertainment sales, ideally with some experience in the entertainment industry.
• Proven experience handling a high volume of financial data and legal contracts.
• Ability to read and interpret basic legal documents.
• Ability to use discretion in dealing with high-profile clientele, talent, press, and other key players.
• Ability to work with and maintain confidential and company-sensitive information.
• Technologically savvy, fluent using Microsoft Office (especially Excel and PowerPoint), internet and databases.
• Attention to detail and the ability to multi-task.
• Excellent oral and written communications skills.
• Must have a positive attitude and a strong passion for the work entailed.
