The Hollywood Reporter is seeking a seasoned journalist to join our newsroom as a Senior Entertainment Reporter. This role focuses on delivering authoritative coverage of the entertainment industry, with an emphasis on awards, festivals, and the general cultural and business forces shaping Hollywood. The ideal candidate is an enterprising reporter with strong writing skills, a deep Rolodex, and the ability to thrive across multiple platforms – from breaking news online to in-depth magazine features, live events, and multimedia storytelling.
Responsibilities
• Cover and analyze the awards race, including leading contenders, trends, and key personalities.
• Moderate roundtables and participate in live and virtual events.
• Report from film festivals, industry gatherings, and red carpets, conducting talent and executive interviews.
• Book and secure talent participation for stories and events.
• Produce timely, news-making stories for THR.com daily.
• Contribute longform features and cover stories for both print and digital platforms.
• Collaborate on and appear in audio, video, and other multimedia projects.
Qualifications
• 7 years of reporting experience, preferably in entertainment or culture journalism.
• Strong track record of breaking news, landing exclusives, and cultivating sources.
• Excellent writing, interviewing, and storytelling skills, with the ability to toggle between quick-turn news and deeply reported features.
• Comfort moderating panels or roundtables and appear in video/audio formats.
• Ability to work collaboratively across editorial, events, and multimedia teams.
• A passion for and deep understanding of the entertainment industry, particularly awards and festivals.
As THR values in-person collaboration and team cohesion, employees work onsite 4 days a week and 1 day remotely with a focus on maintaining a vibrant and inclusive culture.
Typical wage range: $110,000 - $120,000. Factors that could be used to determine your actual salary may include your specific skills, years of experience and comparison to current employees already in this role. The total compensation package for this position will also include other elements, a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits including 401(k) eligibility and paid time off benefits.
