The Hollywood Reporter: Digital Media Writer

The Hollywood Reporter is hiring a Digital Media Writer with at least 5 years' experience as a writer or editor at a magazine, newspaper, or digital news site covering business, media, or technology. The Digital Media Writer will report on how technology and new media companies are transforming the entertainment industry - from the growing dominance of Netflix to the proliferation of streaming services, the explosion of audio entertainment and the digital creator ecosystem. Typical stories may include analyzing Netflix's earnings results, reporting on the launch of a new streaming service like Paramount , landing a scoop on the next big podcast deal unveiled by Spotify or profiling a news making executive at Disney or HBO Max.

This role requires reporting multiple breaking news articles daily as well as pitching and writing longer-lead features for The Hollywood Reporter's award-winning website and print magazine.
THR is seeking a self-starter who can also work collaboratively with other reporters and editors to produce timely, insightful and conversation-driving stories. The ideal candidate would have knowledge of entertainment industry business trends and personalities, key sources within the industry, be able to generate their own scoops and story ideas, and have existing relationships at the major streaming services, studios and technology companies.

The full-time role will be based at the Penske Media Corp. West LA headquarters.

Requirements:
• At least five years' experience as a writer or editor at a magazine, newspaper or digital news site
covering business, media or technology

• A strong reporter and writer who can write breaking news and analysis on deadline as well as reporting on long-lead articles

• A willingness to respond to news in a 24-hour news cycle

• Ability to represent THR at industry events
