Academy Award-nominated production company The Documentary Group (Cartel Land, Girl Rising) is looking for development interns to assist the team at our New York office across a wide range of projects -- from premium series to digital and branded content to feature documentaries.
Interns will learn about the story development and pitching process for documentary projects, and gain insight into the funding and distribution landscape.
Position: 2 days/week for 3-4 months starting ASAP. Daily lunch/travel stipend + college credit where applicable.
Internships are open to college students and recent graduates interested in developing documentary films and series from the ground up. A major or minor in film, television, or journalism is a plus. Impeccable research and writing skills are a must.
As an intern, you'll:
-Assist our three-person team with research for projects in active development
-Write coverage, one-sheets, and research summaries
-Pitch original stories
-Scout literary properties, podcasts, and other IP for documentary adaptation
-Research potential funders and distributors
-Occasionally assist with sizzle reel production and post
Cover Letter:
Tell us about you, your interests, and the best documentary or doc series you've seen recently. Please be sure to highlight relevant research and writing experience.
