Summer Internship at Film Distribution Company
The Cinema Guild
New York, NYThis is a Part Time Unpaid Internship
The Cinema Guild, Inc. is a film distribution and production company based in Manhattan. Its founders, Philip and Mary-Ann Hobel, have been involved in all aspects of the film industry for over forty years, including theatrical, educational, and home video distribution. We are heavily involved in promoting our library of titles to the appropriate venues, and have teamed with such companies as the Sundance Channel, BBC, The United Nations, and the American Film Institute.
The Cinema Guild is currently seeking smart, detail-oriented and creative people who are interested in learning about the workings of a company such as ours and about the film industry in general. The semester-long internship is flexible enough to accommodate a student’s class schedule or part-time work. Ideally, an intern would commit to two full days a week for the entirety of the semester.
Duties vary from reviewing films for potential acquisition, speaking with buyers, filmmakers and theater owners, promoting our library of films, discovering new outlets for our titles, processing sales orders and shipping, and analyzing potential products for commercial value. Other possible duties include helping our filmmakers with their individual requests, assisting the executives as necessary, research, and light clerical work as needed.
The Cinema Guild internship is an excellent opportunity to learn all aspects of the film industry, from production to distribution to licensing, and everything in between. Our interns have gone on to numerous jobs throughout the film industry. Our staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and even worthy enough to be nominated for Academy Awards.
