BUILD & SAFETY CREW (AUDIO)
Reports to: Build Manager / Tour Director
Location: North America Touring (Onsite Required)
Position Overview
This position is a hands-on member of the Build & Safety team responsible for supporting the setup, execution, and breakdown of The Big Bounce America across tour stops. This role works across all phases of the event lifecycle, including build, event days, and strike, contributing to overall site readiness, safety, and operational execution.
As part of these responsibilities, this role maintains ownership of audio systems across the event site, supporting setup, basic operation, and ongoing performance in coordination with site layout, power, and infrastructure. During event operations, this role helps ensure audio systems are functioning properly and supports overall event atmosphere through music, announcements, and sound cues as needed.
In addition to audio responsibilities, this position supports general build tasks, site maintenance, and event operations as assigned, working closely with the Tour Director and Build & Safety leadership to ensure safe, efficient, and consistent execution across all areas of the event.
This is a touring, physically active role requiring continuous travel and full onsite presence during build, event, and breakdown periods in an outdoor environment.
Operational Support (Build & Event Days)
Support general build, maintenance, and operational tasks as assigned by Build & Safety leadership or Tour Director
Assist in maintaining overall site functionality, including equipment checks and infrastructure support during event days
Contribute to efficient execution of daily operations across the site as needed
Event Operations & Audio Performance
Maintain consistent sound quality, volume levels, and coverage throughout event operations
Monitor audio systems in real time and troubleshoot issues as they arise
Coordinate with DJs, playlists, and operators to ensure proper system use and alignment with event standards
Support event atmosphere through music, announcements, and sound cues in alignment with show flow and timing
Operational Readiness
Lead pre-opening audio checks to ensure all systems are fully functional prior to event start
Conduct routine system checks throughout the day to maintain consistent performance
Respond quickly to technical or operational issues impacting audio or overall event execution
Safety & Compliance
Ensure all audio equipment is installed and operated in accordance with safety standards
Maintain safe cable routing, power usage, and equipment placement
Support overall site safety protocols and escalate issues as needed
Communication & Coordination
Maintain clear communication with Tour Director and Build & Safety leadership regarding audio performance and operational needs
Coordinate with internal teams to ensure audio systems align with site infrastructure and event execution
Qualifications & Experience
2-4+ years of experience in live events, entertainment, audio/AV environments, or customer-facing operations. Experience in one or more of the following:
Working with basic audio systems (e.g., speakers, mixers, microphones, playback systems)
Supporting DJs, music playback, or live sound environments
Coordinating or operating audio/AV elements within events or productions
Ability to troubleshoot audio issues and maintain consistent sound quality in real time
Comfortable working in hands-on build, event, and breakdown environments
Experience working in fast-paced, team-based environments; prior leadership or crew lead experience a plus
Strong communication and problem-solving skills
Ability to work outdoors in physically demanding conditions and lift 50 lbs regularly (75 lbs with assistance)
Valid driver's license with clean record preferred
