The 1896 Studios and Stages is looking to grow our team!
Hiring Two New Team Members:
Studio Assistant to ON-SET manage film/photo shoots renting our facility; lead ever important scouts as the face of The1896; and apply your specific talents working on projects at/in and around this creative and active facility.
Freelance position with regularity! You will be booked to work when we are booked with shoots. This can include shoots on weekends as well as very early start times and occasionally very late overtime. Punctuality and Agency are an absolute must. As an integral part of a very lean and poised team, if you have what it takes, we'll keep you busy! IE, if we can count on you, you can count on us.
Train at $20/hr hire at $22-25/hr (commensurate with prior On-Set experience.)

Studio Assistant and future Junior Booking Manager - all of the above as well as some serious administrative know-how as you work the dynamic minute-by-minute world of booking multiple shoots onto The 1896 stages. You will navigate our intense Bookings Calendar and actively participate in negotiations, logistical juggling, arranging staffing and stage preparedness. All under the guidance of our fearless hard-working Operations Manager and Owner as part of a crucial team perfecting each client's soft landing into the glorious world of The 1896.
Two to three guaranteed shifts per week. Shifts can be anywhere from 8-13hrs if you are managing the shoot on set as well. Serious administrative experience is an absolute must. Must be good with numbers and multi-tasking. We need someone who thrives on how alive this process is, loves logistics and doesn't stress out when new info comes in only to change our strategy last minute!
Both positions are very physical, and we want someone who thrives on working hard and being relied upon.
Train at $20/hr - hire at $22-28/hr (commensurate with On-Set as well as relevant experience) Room for advancement to full Booking Manager will be considered after proven capacity.
The 1896 Studios and Stages are a series of turn-of-the-century warehouses functioning as lively filming locations for TV shows, music videos, Photo shoots, films, documentaries and more.
We get it all here, and anyone working here will be exposed to the full breadth of the NY filming world. If you don't know us, please do your homework. After 15 years providing filming space to NY's active film/photo world under the leadership of a women-led team, we only want those to apply who would be excited to be a part of this.
We are open 7 days a week / 24 hours a day, so weekends, early mornings and late nights will be required on our stages here in Bushwick. Our main qualities in candidates we yearn for are BUSY-NESS/AGENCY, AUTHORITY, PHYSICALITY, MULTI-TASKING and TIMELINESS.
Shoot days can be anywhere from 8 - 13 hours, so we need folks who are comfortable working long days when needed. We are looking for individuals with a strong ability to multitask, interface with clients and have either a wealth of admin experience or any of the following: art dept know-how, maintenance and handiness, interior design know-how, graphic design, social media management, marketing or project management.
Living close by is a huge bonus - or a very quick drive/train ride is preferred as shoots can start very early.
The best candidate has at least 4+ solid years of experience ON SET EXPERIENCE. But we will consider other similar experience as well.
Training starts at $20/hr. and can take several weeks depending on how busy we are. There is tons to know about the specifics of this stage space and these 120 year old buildings, so you have to have a good memory, an eye and ear for details and come in ready to learn, take notes and study up! This is a long-term commitment to someone who wants to become part of The 1896 Family - desires some regular shifts from an awesome place to work to supplement their usual gig.
