DESCRIPTION:
We're looking for an experienced and strategic Senior HR Generalist to join our growing team in Santa Monica, CA. In this role, you'll be a trusted partner to managers and employees across the organization - balancing big-picture HR strategy with day-to-day support. You'll lead key initiatives in employee relations, performance management, compliance, and talent development, and play a central role in shaping a culture where people thrive.
This is an on-site role based in our Santa Monica, CA office.
In this role, you will:
• Act as a go-to resource for employees and managers, offering thoughtful guidance on a range of HR topics while fostering a positive, inclusive, and compliant work environment.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws as well as internal HR policies and procedures.
• Lead new hire onboarding from offer to orientation, ensuring all documentation is complete and welcoming experiences are consistent.
• Own the administration of benefits, leave of absence programs (FMLA, ADA, etc.), and annual open enrollment.
• Oversee the full performance review cycle, ensuring timely communication, tracking, and process optimization.
• Monitor employee compliance and training requirements - tracking completions and sending reminders as needed.
• Handle complex employee relations issues, investigations, and conflict resolution with professionalism and discretion.
• Partner with hiring managers and our recruiter to support recruiting efforts, from job postings through offer coordination.
• Analyze HR data and trends to inform decision-making and improve processes.
• Contribute to employee engagement programs and initiatives aimed at fostering a positive workplace culture.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including payroll, finance, and legal.
What you bring:
• Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration or related field
• 8 years' progressive HR experience with solid generalist responsibilities (required)
• Strong working knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices
• Experience supporting multi-state and/or fast-paced environments
• Ability to manage multiple priorities with professionalism, discretion, and attention to detail
• Strong technical proficiency with HRIS systems and MS Office (Excel, Word, Teams, Outlook)
• Exceptional interpersonal skills, ability to effectively communicate with employees at all levels, both verbally and in writing
• A high level of discretion and the ability to handle sensitive situations with confidentiality and sound judgment
• A positive, results-driven attitude and a commitment to getting things done with precision
• Independent judgment and organizational skills that help you stay one step ahead
• Prior experience in entertainment, sports, or broadcast media is a plus
