This is a Full Time Job
The position will serve as a day-to-day business and legal affairs executive for Ellen Digital Branded Content and Partnerships and Digital focusing on marketing integration agreements, original digital content production, digital content publication, app development, podcast development and production deals, sweepstakes and contests.
The Daily:
• Represents the Branded Content and Partnership Sales team and digital content producers in negotiations with ad agencies, consumer brand partners, tech developers, vendors, podcast distributors, talent representatives, drafting a wide range of agreements related to integrated marketing campaigns in broadcast television series and digital content, the development, production and delivery of original and branded digital and social media content, podcasts, mobile apps and other digital media projects with an initial focus on The Ellen DeGeneres Show and its related digital and social media channels, expanding to other properties.
• Collaborates and coordinates with ad sales and brand integration sales representatives and digital content production teams on sponsorship of original branded content, in-show product integrations and cross-platform marketing plans for The Ellen DeGeneres Show and Ellen Digital Ventures and its direct to consumer businesses, ellentube.com, the Be Kind Subscription Box and ellenshop.com
• Interfaces and represents Telepictures podcast production team developing, producing and distributing multiple existing and new projects on a regular basis.
• Negotiates and drafts marketing integration agreements, gift supplier agreements and other tradeout and brand sponsorship agreements, non-disclosure agreements, talent development deals, appearance releases, location agreements, third- party platform distribution agreements, app and tech developer agreements, and data security addendums.
• Drafts and reviews contest and sweepstakes rules.
• Advises on and monitors regulatory compliance (including FTC, FCC, COPPA and data security); assists with the resolution of pre-litigation matters.
• Assists and advised on content clearance and vetting, corporate compliance, employment matters, guild/union and labor relations questions and issues, intellectual property rights, insurance, music licensing, departmental administrative matters, and exploitation of original programming across all media platforms.
• Performs other special projects and responsibilities as assigned.
• Reports to SVP Business and Legal Affairs, Warner Bros. Unscripted Television.
The Essentials:
• JD Required. Top tier school preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of business and legal experience at a national law firm, ad agency, production company, motion picture or television studio, major online service or platform, or digital content publisher.
• Must have knowledge of copyright, trademark, right of privacy, publicity and personality laws, customs and practice.
• Digital ad sales and digital content distribution experience preferred.
• Must be able to write in a well-organized, concise manner, and analyze, draft and negotiate contracts.
• Ability to communicate complex legal and business concepts to non-lawyers including creative personalities, management, advertising and integration sales executives, and content producers, in a highly collaborative, fast-paced, results-driven team environment.
• Working knowledge of television industry agreements, guild and union regulations (SAG-AFTRA, DGA and WGA), contract law and intellectual property rights.
• Ability to work independently and proactively with strong organizational and interpersonal skills, and to manage numerous projects in a dynamic environment.
