News Show Line Producer

The Producer for Noticias Telemundo is responsible for identifying newsworthy stories, conceptualize and produce rundowns, has active participation in editorial meetings and planning, writes stories for the newscast, is able to write banners and request news graphics. Candidate must have a strong editorial background and the ability to lead a team.  Candidate would need to multitask and work in a fast paced, deadline driven environment. The producer has the ability to work with the news team as well as other departments including production, art department and promotions. The Producer needs to work night shift and be flexible with schedule.

Responsibilities:
• Responsible for selecting, assigning, writing, and organizing news stories in rundown.
• Produces live shows for linear and streaming either in a control room or Tricaster settings.
• Anticipating the needs of news coverage, the producer coordinates video, graphics, scripts and other elements.
• Newsgathering savvy. Must have social media knowledge in all platforms.
• Organize and line produce breaking news and show updates.
• Contribute to the editorial line of the day.
• Work in collaboration with Assignment Editors, Reporters, news digital and production crews.
• Strong writing skills. Precise, objective and sharp
• Write or revise scripts for accuracy, editorial and grammar.
• Research for interviews and stories.
• Able to request news graphics including editorial and creative process.
• Guide talent, producers and the technical team in the control room.
• Works under the direct supervision of the Executive Producer and is responsible for completing any other tasks as assigned by supervisor

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in journalism, Communications, or equivalent work experience
• Minimum 3 years of experience in a newsroom in Spanish and at least 2 years of experience in crafting and building show rundowns in cable, broadcast or digital environment.
• Proficient in I-News, VIZ, Media Central
• Demonstrated success operating in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work under tight deadlines to write headlines and edit video for live digital broadcast.
• Must be fully fluent in English and Spanish (both written and verbal)
• Available to work weekends, nights, early mornings, holidays and able tp cover vacations and sick days
