This is a Full Time Job
• Coordinate news coverage from three bureaus servicing stations around the country
• Dispatch reporters to cover breaking news as it happens
• Handle requests from stations for video from different news events
• Coordinate live shots between reporters and stations around the country
• Gather, report, shoot, edit, write, prepare and/or assemble, and present story content in a fair, accurate and unbiased manner
• Generate story ideas, research and set up the content and interviews
• Collaborate with news producers, managers and photographers to conceptualize, write, edit, and produce Telemundo news specials and packages based on either breaking or pre-planned stories
• Communicate with news producers, assignment editors and managers across the division regarding local story development, progress in the field and/or breaking news stories
• Perform fill-in temporary assignments, as needed
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
• Must have leadership qualities, be detail oriented, organized and able to handle intense deadline pressure
• Demonstrated ability to solve problems, prioritize decisions, and successfully manage multiple assignments concurrently in a high pressure, breaking news environment
• Knowledge of non-linear editing and shooting workflow
• Connect the viewers & newscast with social media, surveys, opinions, calls, etc
• News judgment with solid ethical decision process
• Excellent Spanish, reading, writing and speaking
• Strong English, reading, writing and speaking
• Ability to perform under tight time deadlines
• Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism or related field, or equivalent work experience
Eligibility Requirements
• Must be willing to work long hours, varying shifts (including nights and weekends) and report to work in emergencies depending upon news coverage when necessary
• Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States
• Must be 18 years or older
• Must be willing to work in Miami and travel as needed for special assignments
• Must have a valid driver’s license
