INTERNSHIP SUMMARY:
This is a 10-week paid internship opportunity at our office in Burbank, CA. The internship focuses on introducing young and talented technical designers to the world of themed entertainment Audio, Video and Control Design. We will provide a hands-on, one-on-one experience with the design teams at one of the greatest AVC Design firms in the world. This opportunity will provide a solid understanding of our standards and procedures, and help you discover the potential for a career in Themed Entertainment!
The intern will immerse themselves in the design and engineering processes for each of our design teams. They will receive an overview of the department and training on tools that are used to create our designs, including both software and hardware elements. Interns will review completed project design packages, observe any current projects that the department is working on, and even develop their own design package by the end of the internship. This design package will include drawings, schematics, projection studies. Alongside this drawing package, the intern will have the opportunity to program initial show files.
Alongside this instructional opportunity, Interns will gain hands-on experience with our production department. They will assist our production team by helping to assemble any current show equipment. Tasks here will include reading schematics, labeling cables, installing equipment, and connecting interior rack cables under the guidance of our production team.
At the conclusion this internship, we will ask the intern to participate in a survey and exit interview about the internship. We are dedicated to ensuring that this internship is a valuable resource to the community, and the feedback from our interns will be a vital tool that we will use to shape this internship in the future.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Spend four or five 8-hour days, Monday through Friday at our office in Burbank, CA. Days will be as needed, and begin at 8am and end at 5pm, with an unpaid 1-hour lunch break. The specific days of the week, and hours of availability will be negotiated with the intern at the time of hiring.
Meet with your internship manager at the start of each day to discuss any previous day's work, and set goals and expectations for the day, as well as the remainder of the internship duration.
Review drawing packages to gain a full understanding of how they function.
Attend meetings to observe inter-departmental communications as well as how we engage our clients.
Assist in any task given by a department leader, or manager. (Please note, as an intern we will not be asking you to perform menial office tasks. You will only be given assignments based on the focus and goals of the internship.)
There might be times where we need help with some menial tasks, but as it relates to projects
Assist the Production Department with any tasks they need to build a project.
Participate and engage with the design team as directed by the lead.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
Currently pursuing an Associate, Bachelor or Graduate degree at an Accredited Institution as Sophomore status or above.
Recent graduates will not be eligible for this program.
Technical Theatre or similar are preferred majors.
EXPERIENCE:
Prior experience working with any Audio, Video, or Control systems at any level is preferred.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Preferable skills include but not limited to:
Desire to pursue a career in Audio Design, Video Design, or Control Design.
Strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities.
Attention to detail.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Regular attendance is required.
