A Technical Director for the Tampa Bay Rays is a game day position that works as a part of Raysvision to execute and drive the in-house shows during all Tampa Bay Rays home games. The Technical Director is responsible for switching live between camera shots and CG sources, based on the Director's calls, using a Ross Acuity switcher. The Technical Director plays a key role in enhancing the game day entertainment experience for fans. The incumbent must be flexible and adaptive in a fast-paced environment wherein critical thinking and the ability to effectively follow direction are essential.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Attend and contribute to pre-production meetings each game.
• Set-up the Ross Acuity switcher based on the necessary elements stated on the provided production script. Involves moving around custom control buttons.
• Test and confirm all elements are operating correctly and all information displayed is accurate.
• Work with Director and Game Presentation Department to create custom control buttons on the Acuity Switcher.
• Switch live between cameras and graphics based on Director's instructions.
• Follow leads from game day Director and Producer.
• Work with the control room team to execute high quality shows.
• Provide general support to the Game Presentation Department.
• Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
• Prior experience with live sports productions
• Experience operating a production switcher, preferably a Ross Acuity switcher
• Flexibility to work nights, weekends and holidays
• Ability to work the entire event including pre- and post-game activities
• Knowledge of MLB rules and strong understanding of baseball
• Works well in fast-paced/live event, high pressure situations
• Act as a role model within and outside the Rays Organization
• Adhere to Rays Organization Policies and Procedures
• Must have reliable transportation and live in the Tampa Bay area
• Applicants must be 18 years or older
