*Seasonal Sport Dietitian (MiLB)
This seasonal position will report to the Head Sport Dietitian, providing best-in-class nutritional services to our baseball players, coaches and staff. This individual will leverage their knowledge and training to plan, organize and execute affiliate meal services, ensure proper food safety and standards, and educate our staff on gold standard nutrition practices. As a seasonal MiLB Sports Dietitian, this individual will work closely with the Nutrition department in providing evidence-based education, resources and guidance for our team.
This role is based in Port Charlotte, Florida, requires regular annual presence at our complex including spring training and post-season camps, in addition to multiple affiliate visits throughout the baseball season. This role is conditional upon a Minor League Baseball season. We are very optimistic that some form of a season will happen and look forward to providing an educational experience. We ask for patience and flexibility with certain timelines and information as we work with MLB to put the best plan together possible. We will be monitoring the conditions around the current pandemic closely. The health and safety of our staff and players is the priority. All hiring and travel decisions will be made with this in mind.
Duties & Responsibilities:
• Help oversee multiple MiLB affiliates from a catering, nutrition program management and player education and support perspective
• Plan, organize, and execute pre and post-game meals for affiliate home facilities and on the road while maintaining quality standards and budget
• Ensure proper food safety and sanitation procedures are met at home facilities and on the road
• Perform nutrition assessments, individualized meal timelines, and maintenance of nutrition care plans in the electronic record
• Assist in developing nutrition education materials, deliver nutrition-specific presentations, and provide grocery store tours and cooking classes
• Manage NSF Certified for Sport supplement program including inventory assessment, ordering, organization, stocking, distribution and program evaluation; provide education in addition to MLB relevant functional foods, with support from (or in collaboration with) strength and conditioning coaches
• Act as a reliable nutrition resource for the players, coaches, athletic trainers, strength and conditioning coaches, and front office
Skills
, Education & Experience:
• Master's degree in nutritional sciences, sports nutrition or related field
• Registered Dietitian (RD)
• Board Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD)
• Ability to communicate in Spanish preferred
• ServSafe Food Protection Manager certification preferred
• Ability to maintain a high level of professionalism and use good judgment at all times
• Ability to work a non-standard work week and travel extensively
• Experience with collegiate athletes preferred
• Experience with budget management preferred
• Experience with foodservice and catering management preferred
