Part Time Unpaid Internship
This position supports day-to-day operations by performing requested tasks and ad hoc research projects. In addition to building work experience, our goal is to develop the individual with knowledge and skills necessary to positively impact a baseball operations department. We will facilitate this development through exploration of external resources, targeted projects, and exposure to staff members. Explicit goal-setting will be used to assess progress.
Term: January – October 2019 (will consider candidates available in after spring semester)
Status: Non-exempt/Eligible for health benefits
Responsibilities
and Goals:
• Perform duties necessary to maintain current baseball operations processes, including operation of various technologies during games.
• Support baseball operations, performance science, and baseball development by completing requested tasks and ad hoc research projects.
o Requested tasks may require data processing, data input, maintenance of databases, and review of publicly available information and research.
• Develop technical ability and computer coding skills in relevant programs.
o Apply technical skills by successfully completing assigned baseball operations research projects requiring the efficient and precise use of relevant computer programs.
• Develop understanding of data analysis in order to answer questions logically and consistently through the rigorous testing of available data and information.
o Apply data analysis knowledge by successfully completing assigned baseball operations research projects.
• Learn fundamental baseball concepts relevant to player evaluation and development through exposure to relevant staff and processes.
• Support the department through various administrative and operational duties.
