Part Time Unpaid Internship
*Internship (Fan Experience)
The Tampa Bay Rays' 2019/2020 Fan Experience Intern will assist in providing an outstanding experience for all guests attending events at Tropicana Field. Primary responsibilities will include developing and operating unique fan interactive activities and ensuring all guests receive outstanding customer service from event day staff.
In fulfilling this responsibility, duties may include:
• Recruitment of Fan Experience Ambassadors (ticket takers, ushers, guest services, interactive game hosts, etc.)
• Communicate with vendors, agencies, and other departments to successfully implement event-day promotions and operations
• Training all event staff (Fan Hosts, Concessions, Security, Cleaning, Parking, etc.)
• Coordination of secret shopper program to evaluate all event day staff
• Assist with scheduling of Fan Host and Role Players
• Oversee the Tropicana Field tour program and Tour Guides
• Recognition programs (Employee of the Month, Team-building events, etc.)
• Assist with Non-Baseball Events (Enchant, Fan Fest, Ray Team Auditions, etc.)
• Develop organizational systems to ensure proper inventory levels for event days
• Other creative ideas to improve fan experience
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
• 1-3 semesters in sport management, business, or marketing
• Some customer service experience and staff management preferred
• Ability to work professionally in an office setting with other departments
• Confidence to speak in front of large groups
• Experience in live entertainment
• Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
• Computer skills (Proficient in all Microsoft Office programs)
• Excellent communication skills (via phone, e-mail, letters, etc.)
All candidates must meet the following criteria:
• Qualified candidate must be available for the entire duration of the internship (October – March)
• Applicants must be able to work all event which consists of 40 hours per week, nights, weekends and holidays (including Thanksgiving and Christmas) in addition to normal business hours
