Seasonal Festival Associate Manager, Sundance Industry Office
POSITION OVERVIEW
We are looking for an associate manager to drive communication and execute logistical duties to facilitate a successful Festival experience for sales agents and distributors. The ideal candidate will have prior experience working with the film industry or festival circuit, managing people, and outstanding written and verbal communication skills. Working closely under the direction of Director, Industry Relations, you will also lead the Sundance Industry Office responsibilities that intersect with the Theater Operations Department and Online Festival team.
This position will be required to work extended hours, including some evenings, weekends, and holidays to meet deadlines, and must be willing and available to respond to on-call needs as assigned. The majority of this position's work will be executed remotely but may be required to manage in-person screenings during the Festival.
Top priorities for this position include, but aren't limited to:
• Serve as main department liaison and contact for sales agents and distributors of Festival films; maintain positive relationships with these key constituents.
• Respond to a high volume of email in a timely manner and escalate communications as necessary.
• Send all external sales agent registration and ticketing communications according to established timelines and ensure deadlines are met.
• Manage and track all sales agent registration and ticketing.
• Schedule and attend informational meetings with key internal departments (Artist Relations, Theater Operations, Online Festival, etc.) to ensure adherence to cross-department protocol and operations.
• Communicate important SIO and Festival information and processes to sales agents and ensure their adherence to protocol.
• Update internal databases and documents with key information that needs to be conveyed to other departments.
• Develop and maintain a working knowledge of sales agent and/or industry needs for Festival films; stay current with Festival-specific industry news.
• Manage and supervise volunteers executing digital and potentially in-person duties: create shift schedules and training materials; provide support, training, and direction; delegate and distribute appropriate work to ensure they are effective in their roles.
• Where in-person screenings are possible, provide on-site management and support at key screenings to ensure sales agents and SIO members follow theater protocol.
• Work with the Online Festival team to support sales agents with online premieres and subsequent on-demand releases.
• Create and manage screening reports.
• Use internal database to pull Press & Industry scanning reports and distribute them to sales agents during the Festival.
• Conduct regular check-ins with theater managers and online team; resolve issues as needed.
• Provide operational support to the Director as requested.
• Create a comprehensive written wrap report.
You have the following direct or transferable skill-sets:
• Legal authorization to work in the United States.
• 3 years of operational planning, event operations and implementation or related.
• Experience working within the film industry or festival circuit.
• Leadership skills with a background that includes managing people.
• Outstanding communication skills, verbal and written.
• Strong interpersonal and professional skills required to work effectively with a variety of people.
• Excellent organizational skills including self management of work schedule and ability to track a multitude of details.
• Must be able to maintain confidential information.
• Able to mitigate conflict and facilitate positive customer relations.
• Ability to work nights and weekends around events and key deadlines.
Preferred Education
, Experience, and Skills:
• Proficiency in Google Applications and FileMaker Pro.
• Working knowledge of the independent film industry.
