Sundance Institute's Catalyst program builds a culture of partnership between independent investors and filmmakers. Each year, we endeavor to unlock funding for ambitious new independent film projects and to grow the community of indie-film supporters. Catalyst brings together both new and experienced film investors through highly curated film financing opportunities, custom programming, and access to the Sundance Institute community. We train our selected filmmakers to effectively present their films for independent financing, and we provide them with continued support throughout the lives of their projects through guidance on building successful investor relationships and critical project feedback. As a result of six years of Catalyst gatherings, over $30 million has been raised to support nearly 90 fiction and nonfiction works.
Our signature event, the Catalyst Forum, is a multi-day retreat that introduces prospective financiers to a slate of 10 to-12 top-notch, Sundance-supported projects seeking financing. Through pitch presentations, individually scheduled meetings, and informal social gatherings, investors interface directly with filmmakers, top advisors, and Sundance Institute program leadership. Additionally, the schedule delves into the risks and rewards of film investing through case studies, roundtable discussions, special screenings, and artist conversations.
We seek a Producer to lead logistical efforts around Catalyst Forum (July 31-August 2, 2020) and to work closely with the program Director and other key staff to curate and produce the panels, events, and additional programmatic elements that comprise the weekend. In addition to serving as the events producer for the Forum, this role also crucially acts as a project manager for the Catalyst team. This is a highly collaborative position, working closely with the Institute's Operations and Technical teams, across multiple internal departments, and with external partners.
This seasonal role will yield insight into the inner-workings of Sundance Institute's film financing program and our network of film funders and industry peers. We are looking for supremely organized, collaborative candidates who have experience producing events or film-related programs, who have an interest in the business side of filmmaking, and who care deeply about the Institute's mission.
