This is a Part Time Unpaid Internship
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Intern, Feature Film Program is charged with contributing to the program's year-round artist support and tracking, with a focus on submission review for the annual Development Track (January Screenwriters Lab, Screenwriters Intensive, Sloan Fellowship and Commissioning Grant, Comedy Fellowship, and Horror Fellowship.) This part-time role will work September 15 through December 22, 2022, for 20 hours per week, with expected in-office components. Applicants must be based in the greater Los Angeles, California area.
Working closely under the direction of the Deputy Director, the Feature Film Program Intern supports Sundance Institute's commitment to identifying, supporting, and amplifying a diverse group of distinctive emerging independent artists.
This internship will focus on:
• Evaluating work-in-progress screenplays and supporting materials; articulating constructive and specific feedback in written and verbal formats; gaining valuable administrative skills and film industry knowledge.
Through this internship, the participant will…
• Read and provide written coverage on four assigned screenplay submissions per week.
• Research new and associated filmmakers and engage in team conversations about their work.
• Provide administrative assistance for the year-round tracking and support of prospective and alumni Feature Film Program artists.
Top priorities include but are not limited to…
• Assisting in the submissions and review process for the annual Development Track.
• Maintaining FileMaker Pro, AirTable, and SurveyMonkey Apply databases with required and updated information.
• Responding to general inquiries from the public via email or over the phone.
• Researching and tracking up-and-coming filmmakers.
• Assisting with special projects and performing other duties as needed.
You have the following direct or transferable skill sets:
• Legal authorization to work in the United States.
• Working knowledge of Google and Microsoft Office products.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Candidates must be proactive and detail-oriented.
• A strong interest in independent film.
Preferred Skills
/Attributes
• Degree or working towards a degree in film, or a related field.
• Experience working with databases.
