POSITION OVERVIEW
The Sundance Film Festival, 2023 Producer will work in tandem with the Director, Sundance Film Festival, the Director of Programming, Sundance Film Festival, and the Chief Executive Officer to strategize around and integrate the artistic vision of the Festival with the audience-facing and stakeholder group elements of the events. The role will also ensure racial equity in the day-to-day running of the Festival and in the creation of policies and plans to increase the inclusivity of the Festival more broadly.
This position will report to the Director, Sundance Film Festival. Our ideal candidate will have large-scale event production experience, preferably in the arts or entertainment industries. Candidates should be up-to-date with industry and festival trends, and bring a spirit of innovation, entrepreneurialism, and curiosity to the role while understanding the necessity to elevate the Institute's values and embrace accessibility and inclusion.
This will be a temporary one (1) year position that will work full time and will be required to work extended hours, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends, as well as travel at key points throughout the year. A strong preference for candidates who are located within commuting distance to our Los Angeles, CA or New York, NY office. There will be ample opportunity to work remotely.
Top priorities include but are not limited to…
• Working closely and collaboratively with teams across the organization to ensure efficiencies, present a successful Festival program, and creatively express the values of the Institute.
• Translating vision into a strategy with actionable goals with the major collaborators: Marketing and Communications, Technology, Ticketing, Digital, Inclusion, Advancement, Artist Programs, and Festival Operations to ensure all activities are consistent with the values, vision, and mission of the Festival.
• Acting as a key liaison to advancement, press, and other various allied nonprofit organizations.
• Always focusing on building a highly inclusive culture, ensuring team members thrive and organizational outcomes are met.
• Joining Festival Programming meetings, and participating as a key member of the Festival leadership in strategic vision and decision-making on the Sundance Film Festival.
• Analyzing internal processes and practices and identifying areas of process enhancement.
• Developing actionable business strategies and plans that ensure alignment with artistic vision, values of the Institute, and conform to budget constraints of an arts nonprofit.
• Monitoring performance with sound metrics and establishing corrective measures as needed, and preparing detailed reports, both current and forecasting.
• Maintaining and building trusted relationships with key internal and external constituents to ensure consistency, collaboration, and unified goals.
You have the following direct or transferable skill sets:
• Legal authorization to work in the United States.
• 10 years experience operationalizing vision within an arts nonprofit or similar industry.
• 5 years experience in large-scale event production with a preference for film festival, arts, or entertainment industry experience.
• Experience in ticketing strategy.
• Experience and demonstrated ability to flourish in a hands-on, highly collaborative, team-driven, growth-centric environment.
• Strong project management skills with demonstrated ability to strategize, set, and meet goals.
• Experience managing large-scale budgeting processes and ability to bring productions in at or under budget.
• A genuine passion for and excitement about Sundance Institute's nonprofit mission, and a culture defined by collaboration, curiosity, and creativity.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills-able to convey a strategic plan that is clear and inspiring to all.
• An accessible work style dedicated to teamwork and transparency.
• Ability to generate respect, trust, and a positive image for the Institute.
• Highest levels of integrity and ethics.
• Experience in event ticketing and sponsorship is a plus.
You will be successful in this role if you…
• Manage expenses against your forecasted budget to ensure no overages.
• Monitor multiple projects against progress and deadlines and across multiple departments and collaborators to ensure project expectations and requirements are met.
• Work respectfully and collaboratively across the leadership team and multiple department leads to present a successful Festival program.
This position has an annual salary range of $150,000.00 to $200,000.00. Location and experience will be taken into consideration when making the final offer.
