Festival Associate Manager, Community Youth Programming

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Festival Associate Manager, Community Youth Programming is responsible for programming and executing the online and in-person Sundance Film Festival Student Screenings, Filmmakers in the Classroom Program, and Art of the Short programs.

Working closely under the Director, Community Programs, you will support Sundance Institute's commitment to the Utah community.

This temporary position works full time from Wednesday, October 25, 2023 through Friday, February 23, 2024 and will be required to work extended hours, including some evenings, weekends, and holidays to meet key deadlines and respond to on-call needs as assigned. This position is based out of our Park City, Utah office with regular opportunities to work from home.

Top priorities include, but are not limited to…
• Screening films for content and providing recommendations that engage new artistic ideas, enrich civic dialogue, and spark social change.
• Curating a selection of feature-length and short films that are appropriate for younger audiences and environments with content regulations.
• Conducting outreach to Utah-based learning and residential communities for 13-18 year olds including high schools, rehabilitation centers, detention centers.
• Updating and maintaining the Utah-based high school contacts database with accurate and up-to-date information.
• Assisting with in-person community events such as prepping tabling materials, setup, teardown, and operations support.
• Working collaboratively with administrators and educators to garner interest and ensure a smooth in-person and/or digital experience for participants.
• Providing ongoing and timely communication for groups inquiring about or participating in programs.
• Acting as a representative and liaison with internal and external partners, representing the program onsite at student screenings, including checking in teachers and students, and conducting onstage introductions.
• Drafting correspondence and materials, including introduction emails, film schedules with film descriptions, how to guides for teachers, content notes, and evaluations.

You have the following direct or transferable skill sets:
• Legal authorization to work in the United States.
• Valid driver's license and successful completion of MVR background check.
• 2-3 years of experience working in programming, with youth groups, or related.
• Outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills required to work effectively with a variety of people.
• Ability to maintain confidential information.
• Ability and ease with public speaking.
• Knowledge of the Utah school system is preferred.
• Working knowledge of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) databases such as Airtable and proficiency in Google Suite preferred.

• Coordinating with the Artist Relations Department to ensure filmmakers or a film representative is scheduled to participate in each screening.
• Collecting program statistics and materials for grant reporting such as attendance, demographics, attrition metrics, screengrabs, and photographs.
• Independently conducting a comprehensive wrap-report including program summary, statistical graphics, and recommendations for future success.
• Supporting general community program team work as needed including checking external inbox, updating community contacts, and being onsite for introductions at screenings.
