CONSIDERATIONS: Position will travel to Park City, UT to work the January Film Festival. In addition, this role is required to work extended hours (evenings, weekends, some holidays) during key points of employment.
POSITION SUMMARY: Assists the New Frontier and programming teams with general administrative support and processes Sundance Film Festival virtual reality (VR) and new media submissions while providing basic tech support related to submissions.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provides administrative support to coordinator and team, includes scheduling assistance to the Chief Curator of New Frontier at the Festival as directed.
• Organizes application materials and catalogs VR Withoutabox submissions within software by deadlines.
• Downloads and files all VR submission decks, 2D links and builds each out viewing computer on Google Drive as directed.
• Assigns VR submissions to screeners as directed by Coordinator, New Frontier and Programmers and provides immediate troubleshooting as needed.
• Follows up with screeners to ensure VR submissions have been viewed and ranked in Withoutabox by set deadline.
• Updates builds spreadsheet on the Drive.
• Ensures APK builds are compatible with respective phones and troubleshoots issues as necessary.
• Prepares equipment and runs VR demos for visiting artists and companies as directed.
• Assists individuals in and out of VR gear as necessary.
• Performs routine tech troubleshooting to ensure functionality of equipment and submissions.
• Conducts outreach to VR applicants whose submissions are not functioning to ensure screeners are able to successfully review work by deadlines.
• Manages the New Frontier email account for submission inquiries, questions, etc. and directs inquiries to appropriate staff member as outlined.
• Bridges New Frontier/VR technical needs between team, filmmakers and tech staff as needed.
• Creates a comprehensive document that outlines technology needs required to prepare for public exhibition.
• Attends and actively participates in all VR screener meetings.
• Provides written reports on each VR project viewed as assigned.
• Schedules and confirms Chief Curator's appointments leading up to and during the Festival, coordinating last minute changes with relevant departments as necessary.
• Ensures communication regarding New Frontier programming is relayed to Chief Curator while onsite at Festival.
• Provides support to team in hosting artists in attendance at New Frontier venues and events.
• Provides feedback to include in department wrap report.
• Other duties as assigned.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
• Employee has legal authorization to work in the United States.
• Valid driver's license and successful completion of DMV background check.
• 1 year experience providing administrative support.
• 1 year work experience with supporting new and emerging VR and gaming platforms.
• Experience with setting up and operating VR Gear e.g., Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, Hololens and Samsung.
• Must be digital/tech savvy with knowledge of software platforms used in VR.
• Working knowledge of databases, Excel, and proficiency in Google Products.
• Outstanding communication skills, telephone, written and interpersonal skills required to work effectively with a wide variety of people.
• Excellent organizational skills including self management of work schedule ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
• Must be able to maintain confidential information.
• Ability to work nights and weekends around events and key deadlines and events.
