Position Description:
The Director, Financial Reporting and Consolidations will play a key role in the monthly financial statement close and related management reporting for STX. This role will be hands on with accounting and reporting and will be the internal expert for GAAP presentation of the consolidated financials and will support the efforts with design and implementation of various reporting tools, accounting system modules as well as system integration. The position will report to the EVP, Global Controller.
Responsibilities:
-Provide technical accounting/policy guidance on business unit inquiries and special projects.
-Review and evaluate contracts for significant arrangements and new business terms to identify potential accounting issues and address as applicable.
-Research technical accounting issues, document and present accounting treatment policies to senior leadership and external auditors
-Assess emerging accounting standards in conjunction with the corporate accounting group and lead implementation efforts for identified changes.
-Create, implement and maintain comprehensive worldwide accounting policy documents to improve clarity and consistency
-Perform continuous management and assessment of the close process and process reengineering to reduce the timing to close the financial period
-Continually strive to optimize and automate new process to streamline and increase efficiency within various functions affecting the entire organization
-Manage communications with external auditors on external financial statements and accounting issues to ensure auditor agreement with company decisions on accounting disclosures, and issues
-Review legal entity financials including understanding the changes in balance sheet and income statement accounts.
-Prepare footnotes for fiscal year financial statements.
-Prepare and Review Film and TV Ultimates and corresponding amortization, Journal entries, Account reconciliations
-Other duties, as assigned
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
-Bachelors degree
-CPA, with a combination of 5 years of public/private experience in Entertainment (Big 4 experience desired, mid tier public accounting experience is acceptable).
-Film production and distribution experience a plus
-Proficient understanding of ERP & Systems (SAP experience a plus)
-Process Improvement
-Excellent verbal & written skills
-Proficient knowledge of Excel
-Considerable understanding of accounting principles and accounting functions
-Hands-on experience working with multiple companies and the ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines
-Ability to communicate with various levels of management
