Lighting Draftsperson
Job Summary:
As a Lighting Draftsperson, you will work closely with Associate & Senior Lighting Designers at every stage of the design process to create fully realized lighting concepts. Draftspeople are responsible for creating highly detailed drawings, renderings, and all ancillary paperwork needed for a complete lighting package. This includes the technical framework and support systems needed to realize a client's aesthetic, comprehensive of rigging and temporary structures, power distribution systems, and lighting control networks. Additionally, you will work on-site with other design staff to finalize ideas, take measurements, and document the finished product.
Expected Qualifications:
• Minimum 3 years of verifiable professional experience in theatrical, event, or broadcast drafting and rendering for lighting, or an otherwise applicable role. Relevant education experience considered.
• High proficiency in 3D Vectorworks and Vectorworks Spotlight
• Proficiency in Lightwright
• Basic to Intermediate Adobe Photoshop image compositing skills
• Knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, Depence, Cinema 4D, Sketchup, Rhino, or other CAD programs is a plus
• Basic knowledge of stage power and DMX data distribution systems
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
• Unflappable, adaptable and ability to maintain positivity in a fast-paced environment
• High School Diploma required, Bachelor's Degree preferred
Job Responsibilities:
• Create lighting drawings including ground plans, sections, elevations, construction details, and more
• Generate basic renderings and 3D visualizations for design presentations
• Generate necessary paperwork including schedules and hookups with the use of Lightwright and Excel
• Assist with the graphic design/layout of pitch decks and other creative files as needed
• Work with Design Associates to generate equipment lists for bid based on drawings
• Assess and calculate power needs, networking needs, and weights for light plots
• Assist senior staff on-site to take measurements, layout fixtures and other work as needed
• Assist with the organization and maintenance of the company's digital assets and databases
• Other duties as assigned
