Founded in 2013, SMG has quickly become one of the most powerful brokers and producers of intellectual property (IP) in Hollywood. SMG discovers, curates, packages and sells the best content from the world's leading publishers of news, graphic novels, comic books, podcasts and video games to the entertainment industry via its online marketplace called StoryScout. We are looking for an ambitious and results-oriented Sales Executive reporting to the President, Content & Partnerships.
**Primary Responsibilities**
- Identify and sell current and archival stories from our publishing partners viable for TV and film adaptation
- Create targeted strategies for selling IP to producers, development executives, writers, directors and managers that have the greatest opportunity to bring the story to life
- Communicate market needs, trends, and customer feedback to the StoryScout curation team to pinpoint source material (IP) that is most relevant and sellable on an on-going basis
- Interface with SMG Publishing Partners to proactively seek out marketable upcoming and archival stories
- Provide exceptional service to StoryScout subscriber accounts to help drive subscription renewals
- Pitch StoryScout product to prospective customers (producers, executives, etc.) to drive subscription sales
- Leverage SMG's Customer Relationship Management tool to identify, track and analyze market opportunities
**Qualifications**
- A basic understanding of how the film and TV development process works, including the role that studios, producers, streaming platforms, broadcast networks, agencies, and management companies play and what each entity's role is in the creative process
- Stellar reputation and growing network of relationships with entertainment industry professionals, particularly creators, producers, development executives, talent managers and studio executives
- Entrepreneurial, strategic and holistic mindset, eagerness to learn and build a reputation as an innovative, adaptable and proactive ''doer''
- Impeccable eye for identifying stories and characters that are compelling, memorable and ripe for adaption
- Incredible hustle, grit and excitement for selling a disruptive product in a highly competitive industry
- The ideal candidate has
- 2-5 years of direct sales or brand partnerships experience at a reputable entertainment brand (studio, gaming, agency)
- a successful track record in business development and overachieving sales targets
- strong communication and presentation skills and executive presence
