At Stonestreet Studios, the Equipment Coordinator plays an integral role in the growth of the studio and conservatory. Stonestreet is both a working film studio and a screen acting & production conservatory for NYU Tisch as well as professional students from around the world and across the US during the summer.
The primary duties of the Equipment Coordinator position involve fielding the technical/ production demands of our studio's community of staff, faculty, actors, guest artists, crew, and short term hires.
Approximate hours span 9 hours/day, 45 hours/week. Adjusted to incorporate special events or production needs. Monday - Friday from 9AM - 6PM.
Pay Range: $850 - $950/week based on experience
RESPONSIBILITIES:
COMMUNICATIONS:
Survey current communication systems and procedures in use for and between staff, faculty, production, crew, actors and students.
Familiarize yourself with studio policies, protocols and culture. Help uphold them by being the example and connector where possible.
Alongside the Operations Manager, survey for and execute improvements, from studio presence, production design, organization, with an emphasis on accessible in-person presence with support via email, phone and text.
CC Managing Director, Artistic Director, Executive Director and Operations Manager on ALL correspondence initially, and as time goes on, we can pair down.
STUDIO MAINTENANCE:
Assist Operations Manager and Studio Coordinator in making sure that the studio is looking dynamic, beautiful and organized. This includes overseeing daily maintenance of all studio furniture, equipment and common areas. Typical duties include helping prep furniture and equipment in each of our 5th/7th/8th Floor spaces at the start & end of every work day.
The Equipment Manager is responsible for learning how to operate our suite of studio hardware and software (i.e Mac desktops/laptops, Google Drive, hard drives, SD media, wireless printers, HDTV's, projectors, sound/lighting boards, Wi-Fi networks), with the goal of collaborating alongside the Operations Manager with maintenance/repair duties.
The Equipment Manager will collaborate with the Operations Manager with all architectural needs of the studios, such as:
- work with our network of architects/electricians/plumbers/technicians to service light fixtures, plumbing, electrical, air conditioning and ERV air handling
- ensure that studio doors, locks and security systems are in proper working order at all times
- assisting with furniture alignment, stocking of office/kitchen/bathroom supplies and overall studio aesthetics.
EQUIPMENT MANAGEMENT:
Collaborate with the Operations Manager in the implementation of protocol and methods regarding usage of camera/audio/lighting/grip equipment for staff, faculty and students.
Manage Stonestreet's equipment rooms to insure the security and longevity of the studio's camera/audio/lighting/grip equipment.
Communicate with our network of vendors and manufacturers to expedite the repair/replacement of defective studio equipment.
Spearhead the checking in/out of student equipment kits for the purposes of production-based classes and external shoots.
Liaise with Stonestreet instructors during morning and afternoon classes to fulfill the technical and creative needs of their classrooms.
Assign tasks and daily responsibilities to the TA's/interns regarding equipment and studio assistance.
TEACHING ASSISTANTS (TA's) & INTERNS
With support from the Studio Coordinator and Operations Manager, the Equipment Manager will help TAs/interns with all technical support, and will help monitor their arrival and departure times as well as the efforts they make while on the job. Our interns are essential for Stonestreet to run well, and if an intern is not performing, the Equipment Manager will advise the Studio Coordinator about replacing that intern.
EVENTS:
Help staff with the facilitation of studio and conservatory screenings, talkbacks, lunchtime series, parties, staff & faculty meetings and conservatory events like orientation, community day, and last day of studio/end of the semester screenings and parties.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's Degree in Communications, TV & Film preferred.
- Knowledgeable with the handling of film (camera/audio/lighting grip) and office (desktops/laptops/printers/monitors) equipment, with the desire to grow skill-set.
- Proficiency in Mac OSX, Google Suite and Microsoft Word/Excel.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
