At Stonestreet Studios the Operations Coordinator plays an integral role in the growth of the studio and conservatory. Stonestreet is both a working film studio and a screen acting & production conservatory for NYU Tisch as well as professional students from around the world and across the US during the summer. Primary duties are to build a cohesive community and space that brings the conservatory and studio staff and faculty together while working with guest artists, crew, and short term hires.
Approximate hours span from 8-9 hours/day. Adjusted to incorporate special events or production needs.
While there is no payment for overtime, overtime is compensated with time off when it is agreeable for both parties.
COMMUNICATIONS:
Survey current communication systems and procedures in use for and between staff, faculty, production, crew, actors and students.
Familiarize with studio policies, protocols and culture. Help uphold them by being the example and connector where possible.
Survey for and execute improvements, from studio presence, 'production design', organization, with an emphasis on accessible in-person presence with support via email, phone, FB and Text.
CC managing director, artistic director and executive director on ALL correspondence initially, and as time goes on, we can pair down.
STUDIO MAINTENANCE:
Make sure that the studio is looking dynamic, beautiful, organized and in working order. This includes overseeing the design, neatness and equipment as well as all equipment check in and outs with ALL students in production based classes.
Any equipment that is requested by staff, faculty, students or community, should be cleared with both Gary, Alyssa and Managing Director. Review appropriate forms where needed for insurance if we do lend anything to students or alumni. Students in general are to use equipment during their CYOM and S2S classes under the guidance of their faculty. It's special permission to give them equipment outside of that and/or unattended by faculty or staff. A formal pitch and letter needs to be submitted and shared with Monique, Alyssa and Gary and discussed as to the short and long term impact of lending or charging a fee for anything as we are not a rental house and utilize our equipment most of the time.
The Operations Manager is responsible for learning how our equipment works, particularly all screening equipment as well as the light board and all other controls in the Control Room on the 8th floor. We are not a rental house, are not set up to manage equipment on a rental basis, and notwithstanding the foregoing, our equipment is almost always needed for Stonestreet projects.
To make certain all aspects of the physical studio are operating such as light fixtures, plumbing, electrical, equipment, air conditioning, ERV air handling, that bathrooms are stocked with supplies and working, all doors and locks in operating order, to assess if there are any monitors or other equipment is in need of repair, and generally monitoring the esthetics of the studio on all levels.
