Seeking a very special ''media and music marketing genius'' packaged as a highly gifted HEAD OF MEDIA based in LA to start immediately.
Full-time position.
45% remote / 40% on-location in LA / 15% travel
The company:
STEVE HACKMAN is a critically acclaimed and boundary-breaking musical composer/conductor/producer whose productions blend the classical and popular musical worlds in an innovative and groundbreaking way. He convenes world-class talent and brings his productions, such as 'BRAHMS X RADIOHEAD' and 'THE RESURRECTION MIXTAPE' (Mahler X Notorious BIG X Tupac Shakur), to symphony orchestras around the world. He also collaborates with some of the most creative artists of today, including Steve Lacy, Doja Cat, Jacob Jonas, etc., both in the studio and on stage, adding a signature classical dimension to their music.
The position:
This is a rare opportunity for the right candidate to join this innovative musical production company, create a narrative around it, and tell its story. You will be the HEAD OF MEDIA, responsible for architecting and executing a media strategy then packaging that media across all traditional and social media channels. You will use your instinct and skill for storytelling and marketing to devise a media plan that effectively communicates the disruptive nature of this musical content, creates intrigue around it, and drives new engagement and viewership. Your savvy for production concepts and marketing will be relied upon in planning the media capture and delivery for all artistic activities. You will bring new ideas for media initiatives and productions in order to grow audiences and engage viewers. You will intake media content and curate it for social platforms.
Detailed list of responsibilities:
- Create and execute a media plan associated with all activities on the calendar
- Brainstorm and present ideas for new media initiatives/shoots/productions, tailored to different platforms [ideas for short docs, ideas for new productions, ideas for specific social channels, etc]
- Maintain and execute a social media calendar, posting across all channels according to strategy
- Plan and oversee the production and delivery of sizzle reels/promotional videos for all productions
- Creative direct and oversee the production, capture and post-production of live performance videos, and the delivery of those assets in long- and short-form
• Keeps track of current trends on social media platforms and is able to creatively conceive of media initiatives that leverage those trends
- Oversee the production and capture of behind-the-scenes and live footage from all performances, rehearsals, recording sessions, and handle the post-production and delivery in long- and short-form
- Handle intake of photography then curate the best assets to use for social, marketing, etc.
- Handle intake of video assets then distribute to editors, archivists etc. for turnaround
• Build budgets for all of the above, and keep productions on-budget
This production company's activities, around which you will be planning and executing media:
1. Touring productions with symphony orchestras worldwide (2-3 per month, each with a different touring package)
2. Self-presented productions in LA and other markets (4-6 per year)
3. Collaborations with current popular artists (2-3 per year)
4. Recording sessions: 10-12 per year
The ideal candidate:
• Has 3+ years' experience as a producer/creative director/head of media or marketing
• Has 5+ years' experience as a social media producer
• Is a master of social media marketing/strategy/content
• Has an innate feel for storytelling, branding, and marketing
• Knows how to position an artist and a product in the market
• Has experience producing or directing film
• Wants to own the story and message. Can look at what is happening musically and say 'I know how we are going to tell this story and I know how we are going to reach people.'
• Has first-hand knowledge of current music-related media projects and is aware of what current artists are doing to market their music
• Has first-hand knowledge of trends on social media that can be leveraged for engagement
• Enjoys the challenge of how to tell a nuanced and compelling story, and how to package that story in different ways
• Is passionate about music and has exposure to a variety of musical enterprises, within both classical music and contemporary popular music
• Has ample experience building budgets and staying on-budget
• Is a producer and thrives under the pressure of a production run
• Is a leader and can manage a team of content creators, editors, archivists
• Understands artists and how to present them in the best light
• Is an excellent writer
