SNY is an Emmy Award winning, multiplatform regional sports network serving millions of homes throughout the New York Metropolitan area and across the country through unparalleled and exclusive coverage of the New York Mets, New York Jets, UConn women's basketball and all things New York sports.
The Freelance Jib Operator role is an ad hoc position, with hours typically scheduled from 4am to 12pm, or adjusted as necessary.
• Proficient operation of Cammate Jib.
• Collaborate with the Director to create visually interesting and varied subject shots.
• Coordinate with technical and news personnel to fulfill production requirements for live, recorded, and automated programming under supervision of Director and Operations management.
• Assist in maintaining all studio cameras and movement of set pieces and props.
• Willingness and ability to train others as needed.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree in Communications or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum of two (2) years of experience in live, multi-camera studio production, with related camera operator experience required.
• Experience with hand-held cameras is preferred.
• Proficiency in operating Cammate, Jib and Sony cameras.
• Ability to identify and troubleshoot mechanical issues with Jib equipment and setup.
• Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
DESIRED CHARACTERISTICS:
• Familiarity Cammate Jibs and related components.
• Proficiency in Ross Smartshell software system.
• Proficiency in Telemetrics software system.
• Willingness to be trained as a backup for other Tech 1 positions as required (e.g. Robotic Camera, Video Shading).
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
• Demonstrate ability to collaborate effectively as a team player in a fast-paced, dynamic studio environment.
• Availability to work flexible, non-traditional hours, including weekends and holidays.

In accordance with applicable NYC law, the estimated hourly rate for this role is $35.00 - $45.00 commensurate with experience.
