(S) Seasonal Social Media Coordinator
Job Purpose:
The Seasonal Social Media Coordinator is responsible for developing and curating content for social media channels managed by SXSW, LLC. This role is for an organized and creative individual with strong attention to detail, excellent copywriting skills, and the readiness to tackle various content marketing challenges in a fast-paced and unique environment.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Organize social media assets for Content Marketing across various campaigns and promotional needs.
• Assist in the creation and execution of social media campaigns, including programming highlights across Conference, Film & TV, Music, and Comedy Festivals, attendee services, recaps, and more.
• Create organic content to increase growth and engagement on priority SXSW social platforms. Including writing captions, collaborating with other teams to generate visual assets, and occasionally producing social-first graphics
• Monitor audience trends and conversations and ensure that SXSW takes advantage of trending opportunities to tell our story better and serve our audience.
• Assist in scheduling social media posts in Hootsuite and across native platforms.
• Assist in tracking social media campaign engagement.
• Help create and edit short-form videos for Instagram and TikTok.
• Produce articles for LinkedIn.
• Monitor and respond to community engagements and questions on social media channels.
On-Site Responsibilities:
• Curate real-time content, including photos, videos, and quotes from speakers, artists, and filmmakers.
• Create and publish content from daytime conference sessions to nightly festivals and awards coverage.
• Capture real-time vertical video based on daily content directives for Instagram and TikTok.
• Create various materials using Photoshop, including social media graphics and watermarking.
• Help monitor SXSW's social media accounts for community engagement and customer service needs.
Qualifications & Skills:
Qualifications include:
• Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, or related field.
• Social media experience working at past festivals or publications is preferred.
• Mastery of social media platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and TikTok.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Basic knowledge of Hootsuite, Airtable, Google Drive, and Photoshop.
• Basic social media analytics software knowledge, including Hootsuite Analytics and Google Analytics.
• Ability to work under pressure in a high-stress environment.
• Self-starter who can multitask and solve problems quickly and accurately.
• Passion for social media and creativity is a must.
Physical Requirements:
Sitting or standing for long periods is frequently required, with or without accommodation. Manual dexterity is required for keyboard, computer, and office equipment use. Occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds. This position may require you to stay 10 days away from home during the event.
Work Location & Schedule:
The position is full-time and located in Austin, Texas. Core business office hours are Mon-Fri, 10 am – 6 pm. Must be available to work additional hours from January to March, including evenings and weekends. Must be available for the March event; extended working hours on-site. This full-time, seasonal position runs from January 2025 through April 2025.
