Job Purpose
SXSW seeks an experienced Content professional to lead its Content and Experience teams. The Senior Vice President of Content will be responsible for continuously developing the long-term SXSW Content Strategy within the organization and how that intersects with the customer experience. This role plays a crucial role in shaping the future direction of SXSW as a year-round content provider. Ideal candidates will have a strong analytical background, excellent communication skills, and the ability to collaborate across multiple stakeholders.
Duties & Responsibilities
Responsibilities
include but are not limited to:
• Develop a long-term Content Strategy roadmap that positions SXSW as a thought leader in innovation, music, film, and culture across industries through first- and third-party content.
• Collaborate across departments to define, document, and balance the requirements of multiple stakeholders with the execution of SXSW Content Strategy and Experience.
• Manage the editor-in-chief and vice president of experience to ensure content strategy is represented in multi-channel communications, overall SXSW experience, and first- and third-party content.
• Leverage research findings and strategic goals to prioritize compelling content across all platforms while balancing stakeholder needs.
• Support the end-to-end customer experience in collaboration with the VP of Experience and Technology Group.
• Ensure Content and Experience Teams are meeting target metrics and KPIs.
• Present findings and recommendations to internal stakeholders and the Executive Leadership Team as needed.
Qualificationsand Skills
Qualifications
include:
• A bachelor's degree is required in journalism, communications, digital media, or a related field; a graduate degree is a plus.
• 7 years of relevant experience with demonstrated success managing a content team and working with multimedia and commercial content.
• Demonstrated success in audience development strategies
• An individual who can lead by example in reviewing data and assessing the impact of content.
• Strong analytical skills with an excellent understanding of engagement metrics.
• Results-driven with excellent attention to detail and follow-through.
• Proven ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal forms.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and under tight deadlines.
Physical Requirements
Frequently required to sit and/or stand for long periods. Manual dexterity is required for keyboard and computer use. This position requires you to stay 14 consecutive days away from home.

Work Location & Schedule
SXSW is located in Austin, Texas. Core business office hours are Mon-Fri, 10 am – 6 pm. Remote location may be considered. The hybrid role includes 3 days in the office and 2 remotely for Austin residents. Must be available to work additional hours from January – March, including evenings and weekends.
