Full Time Job
Job Purpose:
The seasonal Associate Content Editor is responsible for the development and curation of content for websites and social media channels managed by SXSW, LLC. This role is for a motivated, organized, and creative individual who possesses a strong attention to detail, excellent writing skills, and is ready to tackle a wide range of content marketing challenges in a unique and fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
include but are not limited to:
• Create, format, and update content for sxsw.com including pages and blogs.
• Write blogs on a variety of subjects including programming, announcements, recaps, and more.
• Create social media campaigns based on content strategy and programming promotional needs.
• Generate content and respond to community questions on all SXSW social media channels including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
• Curate photos for sxsw.com and miscellaneous projects including presentations and print materials.
• Contribute ideas for big picture projects and bettering overall web content engagement.
• Create various materials via Photoshop including social media graphics and watermarking.
On Site Responsibilities:
• Generate content for sxsw.com and all social media channels.
• Monitor SXSW social media accounts for registrant questions, event safety, and more.
• Work with Programmers to spread news about late-breaking updates or changes.
• Work with the Web Content team and Student Crew to curate content including photos and quotes from speakers, musicians, filmmakers, and more in real time.
Qualifications
Qualifications include:
• Degree(s) in Journalism, Marketing, or Communications is a plus.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Passion for writing, social media, and creativity is a must.
• Ability to work under pressure in a high stress environment.
• Works well within a team and independently on projects.
• Self-starter who can multitask and solve problems quickly and accurately.
• Experience working at past festivals, publications, and/or social media team is preferred.
• Basic knowledge of WordPress, Hootsuite, Google Drive, and Photoshop.
Position is located in Austin, Texas. Core business office hours are Mon-Fri, 10am – 6pm. Must be available to work additional hours from January – March to include evenings and weekends. This is a full-time, seasonal position that runs through March 2020.
